Are after market flappers any good? I just bought a pair of oem Mercruiser 807166A3 and found out they're the wrong ones. They're the ones in the brackets. I need 807166A1 which are just the flappers. They seem to be another $60-$70 each. I see the a/m ones out there everywhere for much more realistic prices.

I used Sierra on my 290 with 4.3L at the beginning of the season. They were easy to install and fit ok with just a little bit of "persuasion." No issues so far.

A friend put a no name set (Chinese?) he got off Ebay on his 4.3 this summer. He said he had to do some trimming in order to install them but no reported issues with them.

I went the cheaper route and it worked out well.

Nice. Thanks for the heads up.
