Searched and didn't find anything here but...has anyone had success installing a quiet blower to replace the one in their boat? Sometimes I think the blower I have is louder than the engines.

Just turn up the stereo....that'll take care of it!

I often forget they are on when the boat is at no wake speed. You may want to check to see if the fan blades are clean and the duct in front of the fan intake is clear. While the boat is at the factory, a lot of dust accumulates in the bilge and of all places air ducts. I think the brand SR uses is Atwood.

I turn the blower off once I start the engines. I don't see a need for it while underway I'm sure air is circulating in the bilge.

It's possible the blower motor may be ready to fail if it's making a high pitched whining noise.

The one on my 260DA is extremely quiet. Many times I forget to turn it off and don't know it's on until we shut down the engine. You cannot hear it at idle speed from the Captain's seat (at least I can't). I don't know if the blower is any different than yours but I would be happy to check the brand name on it if you want me too Brian.

Thanks Jeff.

Tim, It's not making a high pitched sound , just loud enough to be....well, too loud.

Dave, If it's not too much trouble I would appreciate it. Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist? Maybe I could also learn how to do multiple quote responses too:grin:. Thanks again, Brian

I successfully silenced three blowers in the hull of my last boat by mounting each blower to a 10 inch section of 1 or 1.5 inch diameter fuel line and then mounted the fuel line to the transom and bulk heads. This is the same thick rubber plied fuel line that is in an auto parts store. This provided insulation by absorbing vibration energy and not passing to solid fixtures that amplify and carry energy. After I was done I could only hear air movement. I did replace all fans with new fans for this project. I also found myself forgetting my blowers were on. SUCCESS!

The Jabsco squirrel cage blowers work for me. They are expensive, but they move lots of air quietly. The cabin exhaust fan that Sea Ray installed was very very noisy. Replaced it with the Jabsco blower which moves more air, but is very quiet. When the engine room blowers start to fail, I'll replace them with the Jabsco units.

Best regards,
Frank

Thanks all. I guess I should have said I find the blower's to be noisy while it's just the generator running. It seems to be just as loud as the generator. Frank (Fc3)....what do you mean by "squirrel cage" blower? Would the in-line Jabsco be OK? HIFI, Did you change your blowers as well? Thanks, Brian

The first two blower models. I used the continuous duty rated one and would recommend the same if you will be running it when the genny is in operation.

If you are going to run the bilge blower for hours rather than minutes, for example, when running the generator, then you need continuous duty rated blowers. I've seen articles where bilge blowers overheated and burned that were not continuous duty rated.

Best regards,
Frank

Frank. Did you post a link? I don't see one. I also don't see your signature picture of "Just Ducky" anymore? Just a red X. Maybe it's just me? Thanks, Brian

Can anyone tell me where the blower is? This is Troyzstangs wife LOL, we purchase a 1997 Searay 190 with a 350 in it, I hit the button yesterday and didn't hear a thing, I called the previous owner and he said he never used it. Not sure if its working, or if its even connected, so anyone help me here. Thank, Bridgette

I agree with Frank. I have always been told that blowers, unless rated so, were not designed to run continuously and would likely burnt out eventually if run too often for long periods of time. So unless you replace them with continuous duty, loud is good! Otherwise, you'll forget they are on as I do all the time.

Somebody sould invent a relay switch that we could put on these things just like the warning chimes you get when you leave your turn signals on too long.

Where the heck is that thing located? I need to change it as well. It drowns out jets passing overhead.

follow the big black tubes in the engine compartment to see where its at. I dont know for sure where mines at but its somewhere in there lol.

EDIT: Add your boat info to your signature. Its nice to know what we are working with without asking. AND its nice to see someone else on here with a small boat. lol
