Hello - Wonder if anyone knows if the hose from West Marine SHIELDS RUBBER–Series 135 Heavy-Duty water hose is suitable for AC raw water intake? 200 PSI -40 Degrees to 212 Degrees F. This goes on a 2006 340 Sundancer. Same hose goes from the strainer to the water pump. Pics attached. The Sea Ray parts list just says general water hose. Couldn't get definitive answer from the staff at West Marine.

    Thanks!

Holly crap!!! You want a hose that has wire in it to keep it from collapsing under suction. Close that valve and take that hose to WM and for sure they have it. You are lucky.... That is in bad shape.

I can't tell you what hose is best for your application, but I can tell you that you can probably find it at a better price than West Marine. Just type "Shields Hose" into your favorite search engine.

I've had good luck here: https://www.go2marine.com/brand/s/shields-marine-hose

You could contact your local SeaRay dealer for advice about hose type.

Any advice on how to make the barbed fittings to the hose easier. Getting these lines off the barbed fittings wasn't easy, I suspect putting them back on won't be a treat either.

I have some boot lube I use for water ski boots that I'm thinking may help, but also heard that you can heat the ends of the hose with hot water and that would help.

    Thanks!!

See my reply to your other post. Hair dryer or heat gun makes this a much easier job.

They shouldn't be that hard to install; I'm always pulling on and off hoses on my boat for some reason or another. A bit of dishwashing soap helps on the hose inside. But, twisting and rocking will get it on the fitting no problem. Don't use any petroleum products on the hose; they can be detrimental to the rubber.
