Problem - I’m replacing my windlass solenoid control box, and the obsolete version has M14 nuts for the positive terminals and M10 for the negative terminal. Newer version replacement has all M14, which means my negative cable’s ring terminal is too small to fit over the post

Solution - I can likely just take a short piece of cable and crimp an M14 on one end and M10 on the other and bolt em together. Or a short piece of metal, bolt one side to the control box terminal M14, and the other to the cable M10

Question - realistically what kind of metal connections/nuts/bolts should I work with. Stainless obviously doesn’t corrode, but it’s a poor conductor. Copper best, but the anchor locker isn’t the dryest environment

Why wouldn’t you cut the old terminal off and replace it with the right size and then shrink wrap it? Doing it properly is always the best way.

If you cut the old one off, then cut right at the crimp (or right THROUGH the crimp). That way you've cut off the least amount of the original wire.

I’m going to have to go this route, but I was trying all other options because the amount of lead I have left is minuscule so if too much goes, I can’t reach the control box anymore

But, this is what I’m gonna have to do
