I updated my anchor rode 7 or so years ago to 175ft of chain backed with 5/8 three strand nylon. This weekend I removed the chain and rope and will replace the rope in spring. After the rode was removed I noticed that the two black rollers in my pulpit had mostly worn out in the center down to the stainless pins. I assume that I should replace with delrin rollers but has anyone got experience with replacing those rollers?

I’ve replaced mine. One was a bear to get to so I had to wait until I hauled out but the other 2 were straightforward.

Did you replace with the white Delrin ones? How do they last with chain rode?

My 4" diameter x 2 7/8" wide 3/8 bolt front roller is toast and I've been looking all over for a part number etc. I've been told I need to buy the entire anchor roller setup which I will not do unless it has issues. Did you make your own? Or do you have a part # etc to search for? I was able to use pvc to make it through the summer...but it's time to get the right part and I'm sure having all chain doesn't help this piece. Thanks for any help you have to offer!

I was able to find these. They are made by Kingston Anchor but I bought them from a Canadian marine supply place, Marine Outfitters in Kingston, ON. I'll install them in the spring. The hole is 1/2".

Did you end up installing these yet? and did you re-use the stainless "sleeve" that was on the old rollers. I also have a 330 and need to replace my rollers but am unsure on what to do here.

I have not yet. Still winter up here. Probably in April once the snow up north melts. I was not sure if there was a sleeve but I think you are correct. Now I am worried the sleeve may need to be pressed out of the old one and the new one drilled out to fit. We'll see I guess.

I also suspect that the bolts may be hard to take out.

I found 4" round Delrin stock off fall from a company on eBay and bought a 6" piece 7-8 years ago. I then redesigned the slope of the V in the roller to facilitate a smoother transition of the FX-37 Fortress anchor I am now using to aid the anchor nesting in the pulpit. I turned the Delrin on a small lathe in my shop.

I can also tell you that the while nylon rollers don't last primarily because the white nylon breaks down in the UV from the sunlight. The scraps I found online were black ands they look like they may last forever, even in the FL sun.

Interesting. I just priced 4" delrin bar stock. Very pricy stuff, but I bet if I went to the supplier and asked if they have any off-cuts they might and it would be simple enough to machine to spec. Next time.

If you find a source I am sure there is a market for a reasonable price plus some profit

Creekwood, that’s how I got mine done. Whole job cost me a bottle of good bourbon. He even pressed in a sleeve bearing. He used a section of stainless and turned it. His son works building large mining equipment.I’m going to hate selling, all the things my boat neighbors have helped with.

Creekwood, did you get this taken care of yet. I still have yet to tackle this and am looking for the best way to go about it. Why can't they just make the right replacement parts!?!? would make everything so much easier

Not yet. Ontario is still in lock-down for COVID and I can't get to the boat yet. Frustrating because I have a few things to do before launch.

@Creekwood
I need a couple too! If the size is the same we could get a group buy

@Chris-380 did you use the Kingston Anchor ones when you replaced yours before? You said your new ones are wearing already. Also, were the bolts easy to remove? I haven't tackled mine yet, but I am wondering if I need my electric impact gun with me when I change them. I know impact wrenches are not great for installing stainless bolts because of risk of galling/seizing, but maybe for removal is OK?

I recently changed from the original Danforth to a large Delta style, I needed to relocate the roller to get the new anchor to fit properly so I replaced the roller while I was at it. But I could not bring myself to spend $70 the Kingston Delrin roller they recommended. So I just bought a Poly trailer bow roller $10.
I used what was left of the OEM roller to make two bump stops for the Delta. I'll see how it holds up but for $10 I can replace it every few years.

I used the same thing as Pat (only difference is I bought the black poly one). For the same reason as Pat. I sold the boat a few years later and it was fine at that point. But it's not like I was anchoring every day, either.

Regular socket set to take the old ones out, no issues, just size….

2020 I replaced them with black rubber ones very similar to stock, no good, they would bind up and got torn up, too soft, lasted 1/2 a season (3-4 months) and were in rough shape.

this year I installed these. Only anchored 1 time so far, so the jury is still out
