Anchor type for cruisers and yachts in GA / Allatoona / Lanier

Curious about Beech2000 using a 2nd stern anchor, I heard that can make your boat sit broadside against the wind. Ever have an issue where the primary anchor needs to be reset, and now you have to pull up the stern anchor by hand, then re-do the primary anchor. That sounds like a huge pain.

Single (bow) anchor in swinging winds and current can easily run the stern into rocks in a small lake cove. Perfect world would be straight line current and wind in an open area. Not an option on lake Allatoona. Broad side tow anchor system with a minimum of a 4:1 or 5:1 scope. I've tried many combos. Slippage and swinging in high currents can certainly take the fun out of boating quickly. The best set up I've found is paying out everything with both bow (200ft) and Stern (60 ft.) and adjusting the bow to tighten into the wind. Sometimes it becomes broad side anchoring which is fine so long as we stay firm. This of course works fine so long as I'm first in the tie up. Problem is winds rapidly change in lakes. This adds to frustrations. Especially with wifey nagging. At night the spring winds usually go to zero then no longer an issue.....
