I don't recall a summer with as many drownings as we have already had on LKN and LKW as this year. Another boater in the Sherrills Ford area died yesterday presumably drowned. It seems like this has become a weekly occurrence. I guess it drives home the point that boating is an inherently dangerous activity.

had not heard that news Jim....we were tied up on family matters all day yesterday.....that is in my neck of the woods.....

thanks for the post...

I have been talking to some folks at our dock about the danger of stray electrical current in the water around marinas but they continue to swim around the dock anyway.....the owner of the Marina has even talked to them about that also and told them to stop swimming at the dock but they still do it but to a lesser degree now....

AMEN!!!

I was in Chicago for a 90th birthday party this weekend. The Admiral and I went to Navy Pier on Sunday to meet a former co-worker of hers who had just moved to the windy city.

I was absolutely amazed that nobody got killed out there. It was pure mayhem.

Yeah, they found the man that went missing this morning. There have been a lot of drownings on the lakes this year, they seem more swimming related vs boating accidents, but still deadly. The man at Lake Wylie last week, actually went in the water on his own to try and fix his boat. It's a little scary to think a place that I like so much and spend so much of my time can take a life so quick.

Cliff, interesting I have noticed people swimming around your marina, particularly the houseboat on the end of the front dock. That's dangerous stuff - I don't think many people realize it.
