Any Lake Lanier boaters on here?

I couldn't agree with you more. We don't go anymore other than for either brief periods or on off days - it's just too crazy and inappropriate in there. It kinnndd of seemed for a while like the big beach docks were going to be more relaxed and all the crazy partiers could go over to the docks from last summer, but that's not always the case and you still get the occasional boat pulling through determined to play the loudest most inappropriate music possible. Very irritating. We primarily now go to other coves to tie up and relax.

Good call, yes that's a Cirrus - my buddy is a pilot and has a houseboat on the lake (not one with a stripper pole!!!).
I've got a few hours in a Cirrus...great airplane!

Coordinating a raft up with several of the Lake Lanier boaters would be fun!

I agree with your comments regarding Sunset cove. It can be fun at times but not a place I want to be around a holiday weekend.
A raft up would be fun - there are plenty of great coves and we can keep it "kid friendly"

We've decided to make the jump over to Lake lanier. The boat will be delivered tomorrow to Bald Ridge. It will be in service for routine maintenance for a few days then slipped on L dock. We can't wait to explore new water and make new friends.

Anyone out there on Lanier boating with kids? My son is 13 and my daughter is 11, we'd love to meet other boaters on the lake with similar aged kids (boy and girl) ....

Just had a look on Google Earth of Lake Lanier and some of those marinas look huge by St.Lawrence River standards. One question .... is car parking a problem on weekends and how long does it take to walk to your boat???

The parking lots that are further from the slips are guest parking, boat owners generally don't have a problem parking up front.

Holiday weekends are another story!

1st trip to Lanier this weekend. We are currently trailering, but looking for covered trailer storage close by. Put her in at Balus Creek yesterday and cruised down to Lake Lanier Islands to look around. Came back up past Port Royal and spent the night in a quiet cove. We are new to this and learning a lot. Put up the camper top and weathered the rain with no issues. Have just installed a TV and Glomex and was most impressed by the number of channels. Have been to Hartwell and Russell several times, but want to make this our home lake.

Reviving an old thread.

Aqualand is our home and I agree with all the comments regarding Sunset Cove. :)

Just read where I posted after our first trip to Lanier in 8/14. We have been numerous times since. We made the mistake of going Labor Day weekend of 2014 and it was super crowded. We bounced up and down for 2 days. Other times we have been have been great-especially after Labor Day. We have found a small cove we love near the mouth of Bald Creek. We often use the ramp at Aqualand and stay in Bald Creek or go north under Browns Bridge to the mouth of the Chestee River.. We are looking to move closer to the lake w/in the next year and looking to upgrade to a DB w/in 3-5 years. We are still in the learning stages, but would love to meet and raft up this spring/summer.

Much of my family is from Georgia and we used to fly out and visit every few years. We made a trip to Lanier one year when I was 8 and had a blast! Nice water and pretty good fishing from what I remember. It would be fun to visit again sometime.

For a lake, striper fishing is great as are the spotted bass and largemouth. Lanier is very big, but at times, it seems like a pond in the city of Atlanta.

I'm at Aqualand as well. "A" dock has become my second family.

The PO of my boat kept it at Aqualand on dock ZJ. Aqualand has got to be one of the largest marinas in the US. We spent some time this fall over at Holiday Marina and it seemed nice as well.

I bet! My visit was in the late 60's so things would have changed A LOT since then.

We loved Baldridge when we were on Lanier. Moved to Allatoona 3 years ago to be a little more central to family and friends. Miss certain things about Lanier but certainly not how heavy handed the Sherriff became in the marina the year we left. He would just sit in the entrance and pull every boat he saw all weekend. Does this still go on? My slip fee also went down $1400 with the move but still miss going over to Fish Tails for lunch.
