We had an interesting event take place here yesterday and I have several photos and videos on my phone to share. IIRC you could plug the phone into the computer and then into the charger port on the Android and it would appear as a separate drive on File Explorer.

That no workey any mo. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Try via bluetooth. Call me if you need to.

Dad's has done the same thing and mine (both phone and computer) are newish. I think there was an update that removed that ability, looking at dad's one day. It's the same with his camera. Computer stopped connecting via the USB cord.

But call me and we can go through it. If I can't help, the new folks down the street have a 6 year old. They can.

If you have an Android phone, you have a Gmail account along with a Google drive account and Google photos on your phone. Usually all of your photos/pics/videos that you have taken that are in your Gallery, are automatically backed up to your Google photos. All of which can be accessed via your PC. There should be no need to plug anything in.

I'll call you after dinner. Thanks John

That should still work. (Does for me, as recent as yesterday.) Maybe computer problem?

Or... it takes a while after connecting for File Explorer to actually show you the "phone drive" -- and you may have to acknowledge on the phone that you know you're plugged in and intend to do a USB file transfer.

Once File Explorer recognizes sub-folders, you're good to navigate to DCIM/Camera and select whatever you want to transfer.

Try another cable, some cables are charge only. But for times when that doesn't work either you can always email them to yourself.

Good news! I went to two Verizon stores this a.m.. The first one was fruitless. The second one was a grand slam. The guy diagnosed the problem and gave me a UBS-C cable and it worked.

Stay tuned for my photos.

Just like we discussed. If you want the other method, I'm willing to try to teach an old dog a new trick. All you have to do is call.
