I am looking to refinish the gelcoat on the top section of the dash on my 310 1990 ?
The navy blue gelcoat as started fading at some places.

Any ideas ?

Seeing as my windshield is leaking a little in a few places, I thought about redoing mine. So I can just mask at the frame line and doing a good spray over the old gel coat. But I want to change the black to the white like the rest of the interior. So I would be sanding the whole thing smooth and just spraying a good layer down. Then sanding it smooth and buffing it out. Shouldn't be as bad as the john boat hulls I've done. Just a dusty job. Mine isn't fading, just don't care for that black.

Mine is that rough blackish dash. I'd like to keep the black where the gauges are but the large open front white.

For the fading, have you got up there and tried to buff it out?

Thanks for the reply !

yes I tried to buff it but because of that granular finish, it’s not working, and becomes raven more dull. The best way would be a respray, but I don’t feel like removing the windshield yet ! Looks like it would be a big job to remove that windshield.

Thats odd. Mine cleaned up nicely. It's not as textured and the walking surfaces around the deck and that buffed out real nice.

You could always just paint it too.
