I just bought a fusion Bluetooth. It says place in direct line of site. Has anyone installed one of these? I'd like to keep it in the breaker panel and hope it works. Kinda stinks if it's line of site since then, It won't work when I'm out of the cabin.

Mine is under the helm on the bridge and works pretty much all over the boat and on the dock.

Like it and recommended it to all my dock mates, no one has ever said anything negative about it.
Located mine behind the Stereo down in the Cabin and works well anywhere on the boat.
If at the dock and get off the boat with phone in my pocket it starts to cut out.
If had the time and or was going to do it again would put it in the Cockpit.

I use one and have it going up the back side of the breaker panels and since there's a gap, I looped it over the top and adhered it to the front side of the same panel. Greatly increased my distance of quality sound from source to destination. Well worth experimenting with your setup before just leaving it behind the panel.

I just added one and mounted it behind the radio on my 340. Bluetooth reception seems to work well throughout the boat. Overall I am very happy and it was a simple upgrade to my factory XMD3.

Looking at how I'm going to get from the breaker panel to the helm, I think I'll do as you did. I'll keep it in the breaker panel on the front side where the breaker switches are. Thanks

I have it set up the same and works fine anywhere on the boat.

Ours is installed in the breaker panel. It works perfectly from anywhere on the boat. We haven't tried from the dock ... but now I'm going to test it out to see how far away it works

I installed mine right above the radio in the breaker panel. Looking at the radio it's right there next to it. I can go 2 boats down either way on my dock and still works great.

I have mine under the helm aswell. If I stand on the swim platform it stays to cut out. Only issue I had was my first one stopped working about 2 years in so I called fusion they asked for the serial number and said there was a bad batch made and they recalled them and sent me a brand new one for free.

I saw this thread and bought the Fusion Bluetooth add on for my Clarion CMD4. I plugged it in to the RCA inputs on the back, hooked up power & ground wires and it works like a champ !!!

I tried using a fm transmitter but the radio noise is still very audible behind the music. In fact I would say it’s 50/50.
so am Looking to add this to my 2003 280DA. I have the clarion XDM1.
Can someone tell Me How this connection would work? Do I pull out and tap into the wires behind the clarion system?
If so, any idea how to remove the clarion system?

I tuned the fm transmitter to another station and it works better now. Am good. $20 spent.

I have one attached to my Clarion head unit. It's in the cabin, in a cabinet and then behind the wood where the head unit is mounted and then in the very back of the head unit. About 50% of the time my music skips but I can't tell if it's the streaming or the piss poor location of the BT 100. Regardless, I am going to move the BT 100 to at least the opposite side of the mounting plate. That way it'll only be inside the main cabinet.

My other test is to see if the skipping comes from the steaming, which I'm pretty sure the reception is about one bar, or the location of the BT 100. The music skips infrequently when I am listening from my downloaded library vs. streaming.

Back to the original question. The BT 100 is absolutely worth the minimal investment. Just make sure you don't bury it behind a ton of fiberglass and cabinets.

I'm old enough that I don't need streaming. There is no channel or service that would satisfy my limited middle age taste in music. Hard to get into the boating mood when the music playlist is Pink Floyd with a little Jimmy Buffett thrown in for good measure. Needless to say no one approves of my taste in music, especially when on the boat. Good thing I'm the captain.
