ARC RCL-100 Spotlight Repairs

Hi,
Did anyone ever find out the RPMs of the rotation motor and or gear ratio>

Thank

No...we need a guinea pig to try a couple and report back on which motor and RPM work best.

For the elevation, I'm going to try to 20 RPM and 30 RPM. 5 is tooooo sloooooow.

working on replacing the elevation motor. Anyone have an idea how to get the bulb pins out of the sockets? New set of sockets are $150 and up on ebay.

I just got done rebuilding my spot light. The rotation motor was fine but the elevation motor was gone along with the planet gears. I bought the gears from ACR but found the motor on Amazon for $15. It is a 10 RPM which is slower then the ACR motor but works great for the elevation feature. It was a really tight fit but it does work. I attached a picture.Spotlight motor.jpg

Hahaha I love this forum so much. When we got our boat half year ago I disassembled the spotlight and saw the evaluation motor rusty and not working. Didn’t payed more attention to it because had to do other things first.

Now because this thread I have the repair manual with low cost. Summertime job Tx guys

Many thanks to dtfeld. Don't know how you came up with the replacement elevation motor, but it works. Great find.

I
did someone find a reasonable replacement for the rotation motor
I found one last winter when I completely refurbished my light. I'll see if I cam either find the paperwork or if I'm feeling ambitious I may open the light up to check.

I appreciate. Also did you repaint your light and if so what paint/process did you use.
I did repaint my light, but not un a sophisticated way. I sanded the paint down, got probably 90% of the old paint off, then used a can of rustoleum to prime and then paint. We are freshwater so the exposure isnt as bad. I wanted to sandblast and then powder coat, but just didnt have the time to invest. My job looks OK, much better than it was but not good enough to show off.

I'll let you know if I can get up to the boat this weekend.

Thanks sounds good. I appreciate the effort!

Ok working on my buddies and both his gearboxes are rusted to crap. I ordered a 15rpm for elevation and 30 rpm for rotate. Anyone ever figure out the correct rpm for both?

Already posted this on other tread, maybe some already read it but since this tread is specific about the arc 100, here my restoration of our search light.

Our search light was in really bad shape, non of the motors were working and a lot of paint dropped off. Really a ugly thing right on the front of our beautiful Sea Ray.

When I took all parts out and tested the motors I found out that they actually were working and that there was oxidation on the carbon brushes and at the other motor the adjustment screw wasn’t adjust probably.

2 of The screw holes from the bottom plate were rotten so I made a plate over that and glued it with jb weld together and drilled new holes.

I removed all paint with paint remover and sand paper.
Then air painted it first with 2 layers 2 components primer and then with 2 components finishing paint.

It cost me a lot of time though but when I look at the result it’s worth every minute of labour and can’t wait to reinstall the searchlight and see the difference when we walk to our slip and see a shiny bow. So happy...

I've not seen anything specific as to rotation...I would likely go 50% more on the elevation motor.

I guess I will test 15 and 30 and see how that goes. Should be here from Amazon on Wednesday. I will report back.

If I were doing it again, I would power it up on the bench. I was contemplating pulling it again, having the body sand blasted and powder coated. Increase the elevation speed while I was at it. But I never really use it, so low on the priority list.

plus it’s too damned cold!

A-men to too damn cold... 40's & 50's in South Florida is problem. I have to wear pants to go to the boat...LOL At least today it is supposed to be back up to 75 and 82 for New Years Eve.
