I have a 2005 340 Sundancer. Has anyone added an auto pilot? Is this something that can be done yourself or is it better to hire a professional? Also, what is the average cost with install?
Thanks!

That would depend on your level of comfort and expertise. The equipment will be in the $2-2.5K range and will involve installing a hydraulic pump in line to your existing steering, a control unit computer, sensor, possibly a rudder indicator and a control head and/or integrate with your current MFDs.

And you might want to be a contortion artist to get back there for the install...

My friend has the 340. He installed a Garmin reactor. It was a simple install if you can use basic tools and install a few hydraulic lines. The pump was installed starboard side in the panel to the left of the helm near your legs. That’s where ur hydraulic lines are. The brains of the unit were installed in the storage area under the seat near the helm. That is close to the centerline of the boat. I believe he taps into the rudder position from smart craft but I could be wrong on that
