Back to the fridge situation.......

In a survey it is said if the fridge works. Also how many owners plan on replacing their genny with a new one if it stops working. All I hear is the genny quit so I had it pulled out. Less weight to carry. now in buying a boat that would be a big problem seeing it was gone. Also lets face it these are not million dollar yachts were talking about.

GRRR! Funny you guys are talking about refrigerators. My 4 year old Norcold just took a crap!

FYI, never buy a Norcold!!! absolute JUNK! $700 down the tubes.

It was great the first season. Then it started getting progressively warmer the past 2-1/2 seasons. In fact, I've had to run it on the coldest setting for it to work properly the past 2 seasons. Got home from a fishing trip last weekend and went to empty the fridge and guess what, warm as heck. The nice little LED light comes on, but no cold....

In case you don't notice, I'm a little perturbed...

Oh, apparently they can be serviced according to Norcold.....can't wait to see what that will cost.

Go over to Walmart and get a Galanz 110 only unit. Put those blue freezer packs in where the ice trays are supposed to be. When you are on shore power, no problem. When you are on 12v, the freezer packs help cause the fridge ain't running. Just use common sense and get a couple bags of ice if need be, and try not to open the fridge door too much. It works for me.

You get what you pay for. Our Norcold is still going after 10 years. Mind you, our fridge was $1,800.00 CDN at the time. IMHO, $700.00 will not buy you quality.

The unit I put in my boat was Norcolds direct replacement for the original Norcold fridge that was installed at the factory. I thought I was doing the right thing.

The Nova Cool replacement is right in the $700 range too.
