Boat Info
1995 SeaRay 370 Sundancer
Engines
8.1 Horizons
During a haulout we discovered about 3 blisters on the bottom of the boat. They measured 2 to 3 inches so they need to be fixed. But the surveyor made a comment that this was very unusual for a SeaRay but just said it should be cleaned and epoxyed like no big deal.

What do you guys think? this is a 1995 370 sundancer

I'm wondering if this is just the beginning of more blisters to come or maybe water just found the few weak spots and no big deal.

I have approx. 1/2 dozen on my bottom .50 cents in size that were identified in a '99 survey and have not gotten any larger or multiplied...

Thats good, but they told me the max size is about 3 inches and that needs to be fixed. A lot of little ones that don't grow are acceptable I guess. I suppose its the size that worries me and could lead into a big issue once they start the repair. Or maybe its common and no big deal. I don't know enough about it.

Does the boat stay in the water 12 months a year? boat builder switched to "vinylester" resin around 2000 which is not as porous as "polyester" resin. If a 1995 boat made with polyester resin were wet slipped year round I would have the bottom stripped and barrier coated to prevent blisters.

3 blisters isnt a big deal. I had 1 when i bought my boat. when i get it bottom painted, i will get it repaired, and any others that may have formed.... the surveyor said its about $30 each when doing the bottom paint at the same time...

yes its year round and has been since 1995 most likely. Hmmm, I'm not willing to do that investment. I may just move to a different boat. This one has been a can of worms.

Did they have to wait a week or so for drying time? That's what I've been reading. They open the blister, grind it all way and wait a couple weeks to dry.

I have read that, not getting mine fixed (hopefully) for a couple years
