I'm considering going to the practice this year but have never been. The Naval Academy airshow is May 23rd this year based on the Blue Angel's page. Is practice day always the day prior? Is it pretty clear where you an drop anchor?

Thanks!

Since graduation is on the 24th this year, that's when the show is. The practice is the day before from about 11:00 to 2:00ish (haven't check an official schedule but about that last years). Yes, it's pretty obvious where to anchor, or raft up. Last year I counted 42 boats rafted along the boundary line facing up the Severn. It's pretty much pick a spot where there's room then sit back and enjoy.

Yes, the rehearsal is on the 23rd, 1100 to 1300 hours. Here's the schedule for the week's festivities: https://www.usna.edu/CommissioningWeek/

The Annapolis Sail and Power Squadron always does a raft-up during the rehearsal. We set the hook to the west of Greenbury Point (radio towers), between Red 8 and the prohibited anchorage. We usually get there an hour before the start.

Here's more information to help you. The USCG sets up a regulated area called the "air show box" and they don't allow any boat traffic in there from 0930 to 1600 hours. USCG and MD Natural Resources Police will have a big presence and enforce the regulated area. This is last year's press release but they do it about the same every year: http://coastguardnews.com/coast-gua...s-air-show-near-u-s-naval-academy/2016/05/20/
