wife just showed me a video she saw on FB that was reported to be near Marblehead? Shows a boat that sank and 8 people in the water. A ferry was there to help and also a rescue boat. Looked like everyone was ok but no mention of why it sank. I guess 5'ers and 8 people on board didn't help matters? Guess it happened about 2:00PM yesterday. Glad everyone was ok.

I counted 7 in the video I watched, but it hard to tell. A 25 Rinker. (8 is a lot for that boat!) The boat was 3/4 down by the time the Miller approached with her ramp down. The Rinker passengers first started to swim toward the lowered ramp, which was slamming the waves. I was relieved to see them turn and swim to the RIB rescue boat instead.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos of boats sinking lately. Almost every one has way too many people on board and in the wrong place! :smt021

Yikes. couldn't tell the size of the boat but I have a 25'er and cringe at having 8 (or 7) on board in calm waters

There was an awful lot of stupid going on at various parts of the lake yesterday.
There was a small craft advisory out and people going out in boats ill equipped for 5 to 8's or worse.
Someone went out in a pontoon boat in that crud.

Last count I heard was USCG rescued 33 people in 4 different incidents.
Thanks for being out there Coasties!

yeah, it was nasty in Erie yesterday. I was headed back from Kelley's and it was nautical to say the least. It just made me love my old gal even more. Watched a 19th foot late 70's boat come out of West Harbor channel and take the 1st wave over the bow and promptly turn back around. People just don't think some times...

My dock neighbor has a pretty new 26' Cobalt bow rider that he says weighs 6000lbs. He headed out onto the Ohio and I could see him almost airborn. He came back in a few minutes later. I asked if those waves were from another boat and he said there were no other boats around. 2-3'ers out there. A few minutes later we watched a small (~15') wooden boat head out. Crazy.

We were out on Saturday. Went from East Harbor to Cedar Point for a dinner run at Famous Dave's. Coming back we were in solid 4' waves after rounding Marblehead point. Glad I have a 37' boat that can handle snotty weather.
