Has any one ever done a swap from a Borg Warner 5000 series to a ZF 63IV in their sundancer ? If so what all was involved and needed ?

Hey Josh.

What engines do you have, and do you minds me asking why changing the tranny's? Is a rebuild out of the question? If you have diesel's you can not use ZF63's, they will not take the torque. You will need the ZF85's.

I would think there would be a couple issues.

- First would be can you get the same gear reduction ratio. If you change the gear ratio, you likely change the props. At a min, your having them tweeked, worst case, your buying new.

- What is your shaft angle. That has to match.

- Bolt Pattern - you might have to have a different adaptor plate or even a custom adaptor plate between the tranny and engine. There are standard patterns SAE#3, SAE#4 ect, but you need to figure that out.

- Mount pattern - Will the mount line up with the existing mounts. The front mount is usually on the transmision. Changes to the location will require new engine mount on the stringers and the work to relocate.

Beyond that, all the cooling and hydraulic line and the shift cabling.
