Last year I had the Boatyard paint the bottom. I don't know what they used I think it was Interlux 66.
I had a problem with the bottom getting fouled with slime.
No Barnacles on bottom just running gear and tabs.
I used the boat every week except one.
Any recommendation for a good ablative paint for slime.

Petit Hydrocoat. Regular brand. Always hear good things from NE boaters who use it. It's on mine

Running gear and underwater metals and tabs use petit barnacle barrier. Also can use on transducers and it's the same formula.

I also keep my boat in Northport. I've been using the Pettit hydro coat SR for the last four year with excellent results.

For the people recommending the Pettit hydro coat, do you use the regular or the Eco? There is a big price difference between the two.

Regular not ECO... is what I would use... Check the cooper content... the higher the better...

Another vote for the Petit Hydrocoat SR. They repainted our boat with it last year when we purchased and I was able to clean the bottom with a harbor freight electric power washer in like an hour. Good stuff.

Any issues with using the copper composite hydrocoat on the shafts or tabs due to dissimilar metals?

I use a CSC paint for metal on my shafts, trim tabs, and rudder... I would not recommend standard bottom paint on metal...

Don't use copper paint on metal.

I haven't used Petit paints, always used Interlux. So, I've tried different methods, which included doing by the book Trilux 33 and was not happy with results. Then I had extended conversation with Interlux and they suggested to use the same paint I've used for the bottom (Micron Extra). The only difference in prep, don't use solvent to clean the dust after sanding metal gear, use brush or air compressor. The results with the same bottom paint were better, but I could never get more than 1 year out of the paint on the underwater gear. So, I finally went for PropSpeed on everything.

No experience with interlux or petit although I used WM CPP made by petit 2 years ago and our boat sat from mid July until mid October, once we lost the engine we used it as a condo. The WM branded paint was amazing. Minor fuzz on the water line and minor slime on the rest. My in protected outdrives and tabs were covered with stringy jelly crap and muscles but the hull washed clean with a crappy electric power washer onThe lowest setting. I couldn't believe how well it worked. Whenever we did run the boat, may-July, the bottom was spotless except for the waterline but that would rub off before we came back to the dock Every time.

Maybe I'll try to one paint next time. I already bought Trilux and regular hydrocoat

I've used Interlux MicronCF. It works great and is copper free. I use Trilux 33 on tabs and drives. I have had better luck with brush on Trilux over aerosol.

Sorry - should have said for years I used "Ultima" SR. Now using Hydocoat ECO.
Also when I did use Ultima I used the brush on trilux for the drive and tabs. I always had problem with the tabs. The Pettit folks suggested propcoat for the tabs and that seems to be working well for me. I started painting my stainless steel props with propcoat and it really helps keep the barnicles at bay.
