You have their new prop. I read about it in an ad. Apparently, most of the noise from bow thrusters is from cavatation. This new design cuts the noise in half.

I was wondering if you could retrofit it and you have just answered my question.

Was the price reasonable?

Robski, Keep us in the loop on this one, as I too would like to retrofit. My model # etc. is in my black bags on the boat. This sure would be nice to have BEFORE I launch this spring. Did you call Vetrus direct ?

Mine was free...... but it was 96 dollars if i had to pay.....

Much better grade palstic... thicker....

From the aggressive pitch on the blades it has to move a ton more water . The old blades were almost flat. ( no pitch )

I got it straight from VETUS. The chick that answers the phone takes the order. just have ur model #

Phone # is 1-410-712-0740

Rob, does your thruster still have to be under warranty for free replacement? I called down there and the tech. I spoke to never made the offer and even told me that its not much of an upgrade from the original design. I dont believe it. From the looks of the blades it have to move more water!

Jim,
not much of an upgrade.???.. wtf....

There not even close... I called Vetus just to double check they sent the right one. I just thought it would made of a better grade of plastic... The original is quite flimsy. They said it will be quieter too....

I told the person on the phone it was less then a year old . I did have to pay for the thruster zinc. ( i needed a new one )

I ordered the 6 blade propeller on-line today from www.defender.com for $79.95. The list is $96. I also ordered the replacement zinc for $26.99 and the list is $40. Shipping was $8.15 UPS.

Plan to put it on reeeeal soon. :smt001

Robski97, have you installed the new one yet? What an I in for? I read on the Vetus site that you should use locktite on it.

If anyone cares this is a pic of the blade installed

Well, I just got back from the boat and my Vetus Thruster is this size: 80KGF, that uses a 178mm propeller(7" dia.).
Heres the rub; I went on the Defender web site and their Replacement is listed as "for 55/75/95 kgf" Vetus Model number SET0088, List Price $96 - Defender Price $79.95.
By the way it says that not only is quieter but reduces power consumtion by 10%.
I may be calling to make sure this is the right one-anybody know if it is? Thanks

Petep, that's the one I bought but I have a 95kgh thruster. I would get on the Vetus site and look at their product catalog or call them.

So boats finally in the water.. boy is it cold ....

i testedthe new blade... BOY is it quiet....

Completely different sound...

Also appears to move alot more water....

Well, I got my order in and it is a different model number than the 420's use; Mine is Vetus part # SET0089, Cost me $72 + shipping, just waiting to get it and do my install. Thanks for the tip guys.
