I replaced the zinc on my bow thruster and when doing so lost some of the oil out of it .
Does anyone know what oil goes in it.

My boat is a 2001 460 Sundancer.

Thanks for the help.

JC, you might give SR Customer Service a call to find out if that thruster was a factory installed item and if so, who the manufacturer was.

Good Luck

I'm not sure what you unscrewed. I believe your boat came with a Vetus Bow Thruster. Both Vetus and Side-Power only have one replaceable anode which is located on the front or back of the tunnel prop(s).

Correct and the bolt for the anode also screws into the plug to drain the thruster. the bolt would not unscrew from the plug so I had to take bolt - anode - drain plug out all together. In doing so I lost oil out of the pump.... not alot but enough for me to want to top the oil off. My boat is five hours away from home so its not that easy to just see what parts and then look up on the interweb... Just thought some here would know what type of oil. It smelled like gear oil to me but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks

Made a trip to the boat. on my 2001 460 the bow thruster is a Vetus. The oil needed is 80/90w . The reservoir is located under the front bed in the same compartment at the AC.

When looking for the reservoir once I found it ... wire tied to it from the factory was a quart of Valvoline 80/90

I had not thought of this before your post -
How do you know the proper fill level?

There wasnt a full fill line . I just filled it to 3/4 full and ran it a couple times to insure it didnt need more.

Someone at SR was thinking ahead!
