Hey there ...total noob to Sea Ray here ..this is in fact my first post in this forum! Seems like a wealth of valuable information here, so glad to be here!

Anyway, I just purchased a 2005 Sundancer 340, and I can't for the life of me figure out why the cabin speakers won't work. The speakers in the cockpit work fine. Yes, I know about the cockpit/cabin stereo mute switches near the door. Is there a setting, fade, balance ..something on the unit itself that I'm missing? Is it possible the amp is burned out (I believe there are separate amps for the cockpit and cabin? I guess the next step would be to find the stereo unit manual (which seems to have vanished).

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Welcome. Yes, lots of info to be had on the forum. So far as your stereo, if you have the Clarion I have, yes there should be a fade knob on the stereo. On my 2006 it is one of the 3 on bottom left of head. My amps are located under the sofa seat in the cabin. As a troubleshoot you can switch the inputs from the stereo into the amps to see if the issue moves. This will r/o the amps. Other test is to remove switch at doorway and test it. You can swap the cabin with the cockpit switch to r/o that as well. If all this tests good, you are back at the stereo unit. Hopefully it is not a blown forward channel and just an adjustment.

It's the Clarion XMD3. I tried the fader, but nothing. Strange thing is there are two amps under the mid berth, and when I turn off the stereo to the cockpit at the cabin door switch, both amps are turned off. I would have assumed that one of these amps would have been for the cabin? Is it possible that someone rewired so both amps would only power cockpit speakers, or is there still another amp somewhere I am missing?

And solved (I feel stupid). Apparently there is another unit above the TV in the galley. (I thought this was a DVD player). That's the one that controls the speakers inside the cabin. Doh.

Thanks for your responses guys. I'll try to be a little more thorough before I post next time! :)
