Calling all 360 DA owners

It will fill, but you should run water thru it. Turn the galley faucet on for a few minutes. That will bleed the lines and clear out any remaining air. If its not toast, you're lucky!
Good habit to get into is to run the water first before you turn the hot water tank on. Little extra insurance.
It's is not easy to replace, that's for sure! Did mine 2 years ago. Take yoga and stretch beforehand.

Hey I finally completed my water heater replacement. I also had to recreate the wood deck with the drop in lids that sits above it. Mine was soft in the back right corner. Curious if you saw evidence of water infiltration when you replaced yours. I can’t figure out where it may have come from.

I had water in all three compartments, but after vacuuming it up and letting it air dry, it was completely dry. I also checked all the wood with a moisture meter, and found no issues. The deck and 3 lids were solid. If you had water in the back corner, you might want to check behind the cushion and the engine room bulkhead for any trace of water ingress.

This sounds weird but bear with me....late launch this season but noticed water in the water heater compartment (assumed it was from yard winterization), vacuumed it out but noticed a sponge like substance in the water at the back of the compartment. All told the water amounted to maybe a pint. Any ideas what the material might be....hoping it was something left over from previous servicing..rag or sponge??? is there anything that the heater rests on or around the back of the heater. Needless to say, it is very cramped in there.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, I hope you all are having an awesome cruising season. I was wondering if anyone knows the height from waterline to top of our radar arch?

Thanks,
Rob

If the rain holds out we will be going out tonight and I will try to remember to measure. I know it is 13' 2" to the top of Simrad 3G Radar and it is on a 5" mount so an approximate number would be 11' 8".

Thank you for the information. We just installed a Simrad 4G radar. How do you like your system?

Thanks,

Hello, we left the dock today and when I selected the factory bow thruster, it seemed to spin much slower than usual. It performed same way whether I selected bow to port or starboard. I know the battery for the thruster is located in a compartment in the forward cabin. Does anyone know if this battery is charged from engine alternators and which one or both? Does our shore power charger also charge this battery. The thruster performed well 2 weeks ago when we arrived for some service which included replacement of the port alternator.

Thanks,
Rob Gibbs

We love it. Our use is mostly for seeing things at night in the bay that we could run into. Our area is not a heavy shipping area and we generally are on the inside so no reason for long ranges. More than once it has let us see some idiot in a 14' boat out with no lights. Once we even turned on the spot light to see what the target ahead of us was and a guy stood up and waived his Coleman lantern! Good thing we were not running 20kts on autopilot like we hear stories about or he would have been a statistic. The close in capability is amazing. At idle speed on a flat day you can see birds float by. You will easily see your wake when powering up.

Well I took my old one apart after removal and the only thing in that water heater box is insulation wrapped around an aluminum tank and the electrical components. Perhaps someone had a desiccant if some kind in there at one time?

Hello long time lurker first time poster. We’ve had our 360DA three years now and have loved every minute of it but it’s time to redo the stereo I went JLAudio M6’s 6.5 4 sets to replace every speaker an M6 10” and two JL amps. My question is does anyone know how to remove the Vberth speakers? I can’t figure out how to get the cover off and don’t want to break anything.

I have a cockpit cover from a 2003 360 Sundancer that I bought from @my3sons for sale. He previously used it to cover his boat while stored inside for the winter. I used it for a couple of months while waiting on my full enclosure install. Black, great condition 3 adjustable poles. Completely cover windshield glass to transom. Sorry, these pics from @my3sons are all I have of it. It fit well on our 360DA with just a few snaps on the side not lining up. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Does anyone know where the connector for the PORT fuel sensor is located? Our fuel gauge is bouncing between full, 1/2 full and empty. Gives the same reading on the Smartcraft Gauge and on vessel view so it is not a gauge issue. I would like to check for loose connection or corrosion, but I have no idea where the connector is located.

Hello 360 DA owners. I am in the process of purchasing a 2002 SR 360 DA and wanted to join the 360 Owners group. Pics to follow after deal finalized.

Welcome, will you be on the Tennessee River or in the Gulf? We have had our 2003 360DA for a year now, and got lots of useful info and tips by reading all 65 pages of this thread.

Hello 360 owners.
I have a friend looking at a one owner 03. Fresh water on a trailer with 8.1 370 hp 240 hr ,bow thruster, cherry cabin. Loaded

What are the pros and cons of the 360 that you have found.

The 360 is a great boat. Never heard of one on with a trailer though(?). I don't know how you would even do that, with a 12 1/2' beam, let alone the weight.
240 hours is extremely low. Like Phasma stated - survey, survey, survey.

We are the owners of an 03 360DA since August of last year. Ours is similar to your friends except no bow thruster and we are saltwater. Ours had just under 400 hours when we purchased. We moved up from a 30' Doral. Our primary use of the boat is day drips with friends and family or overnight just the two of us. We find the boat is perfectly sized for our use. We love that the bed is a real mattress and is easy to access. Our previous boat had the sleeping quarters in a a mid-birth that you had to climb on your knees to access and someone had to climb over the other if you needed to use the head at night. Not ideal for those of us in our 50's.

After one year of ownership we love our 360. We find it super easy to drive both my wife and I are comfortable at the helm.

As others have said, survey is important. Our boat was previously owned and very well maintained by a retired Navy Captain Surface Warfare Officer, yet the survey turned up a couple of items, one that was not a cheap fix. Other than minor mostly cosmetic things, the survey found that the automatic fire extinguisher needed to be serviced. Well in 2003 these fire bottles were halon filled. Can't be serviced any longer so had to be replaced with a modern system. Luckily for us the seller took care of this. Our boat had just had a yard period before the sale so we had new bottom paint, new shaft seals, tuned props, new risers/manifolds and fresh oil change. One other item to consider in the negotiations is the current electronics. If you need a full upgrade, including vessel view, this is not a small bill. We had ours done including install of a 3G radar we already had and it still ran about $7K.
