Calling all 360 DA owners

TopDawg, how did you gain access to remove the CD changer? I cannot find a way to remove it.

So has anybody upgraded the original Clarion head unit (and CD magazine) on the 360? I wanting to do an upgrade, bluetooth for sure and possibly Sirius XM.

Gonna have to cover up that hole where the wired Clarion remote controller is. Fusion??

We had plans to replace ours with a Fusion System since our Clarion amp has failed. We were going with it for the multi-zone control it offered. Then our generator crapped out and ended up being a 8K bill and taking 6 months to get fixed. I ended up just wiring the cabin amp to the cockpit speakers for now. The hardest part of the amp upgrade will be pulling 4 gauge wire from the engine room. If you want to try something on the cheap, get this adapter. It plugs into the Clarion head, and gives you a 1/8" plug. We bought a cheap bluetooth adapter with 1/8" socket on Amazon and that allows us to stream from the cockpit. Not fancy or the best solution, but works for less than $60. https://www.ebay.com/itm/us-seller-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Team PCBeach, can you elaborate on this? Is the Clarion head easily accessible? As well as where you plug this into? I would go to check myself, but we're still on stands with the marina locked up tight here in Pittsburgh. Also if anyone else has done this on a 2002 (although I can't imagine it would be that different)?
My kids are after me to be able to stream music at the boat, and I really don't want to upgrade the whole system. If I could do this myself, it looks like a cheap alternative!!

Really easy to install. If I remember correctly the head unit has a plastic covers on each side. Pop those off an you have access to the screws holding the head unit in. Remove head unit, unplug CD changer and plug in the adapter. I drilled a small hole in one of the plastic covers and that is where I mounted the switch. I just ran the 1/8" plug loose out via the CD drawer. I started out just plugging a 1/8" extension cable into that and then I could set my phone on the counter behind the couch. This worked except you can't change songs from the cockpit. So we bought a cheap bluetooth adapter on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008AGQMQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that allowed us to stream from the cockpit. You might need a little female to female adapter (https://www.amazon.com/Ksmile®-Ster...ds=female+to+female+1/8&qid=1585835802&sr=8-3) depending on the the bluetooth adapter you get. This worked works pretty well, but I would probably get a better adapter as sometimes we start to lose the connection if the phone is on the swim platform. I would guess total install time is less than an hour and total cost $50 to $100.

This is awesome. Thanks!!

Add me to the 360 DA Sundancer list. Recently purchased this boat with a 4 axle trailer and pulled it 500 miles to my lake with semi. Upgraded from a SR 310DA 1998 still for sale. Now working on the following items:
1. Bow thruster motor bound up
2. Need entire wiper on starboard - where to purchase
3. Freezer broken - Coolmatic RPF50 - replace with what? Maybe 120v only.
4. SmartCraft broke how to upgrade to Vessel View

I hope everyone has or is getting their boats in the water by now with most states allowing marinas to open.

Has anyone replaced their cockpit table post with something shorter than the 30” which I assume was OEM? My wife and daughters feel it is too tall so I was hoping to find a replacement around 27” to 28”.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

Here's a 26", I'm sure there tons more out there. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/todd--posi-lock-table-post-26--138797?recordNum=3

I'm interested in knowing how many 360 DA owners are on CSR, in case I want to direct questions your way using PMs. I am aware of Two Peas, PMvdb395DA (Peter), My3Sons and BOZ. Any others? Is there enough of us for an "official 360 thread"?
Did a 360 thread ever get started? If so how do I find it? New to site...
Thanks,
Dennis

My main display for engine conditions (Smart Craft?) does not display. Can I fix this or can it be upgraded to Vessel View? If a section has already been documented please point me in such direction. Would really like this working.

Hi Dennis,
There are many threads on Smart Craft and Vessel View that you can find by putting those terms into the search box at the top of the screen. I upgraded my electronics from the original Raymarine to all Garmin over the winter and have my engine data available on the Garmin's via a Smart Craft/Vessel View link. I had my marina do the install so I do not have a lot of details but here are a few pictures of the finished install and the engine gauges displayed on the Garmin.

I went with Garmin 8612xsv in the center of the dash with a 942xs on the left along with Fantom 54 radar, B60 Transducer and VHF315. I also had a new dash panel made from Tecnografic for the left side of the dash to match the original. The previous owner removed the original tach's to make room for the 942. I had that moved and added the 8612 which had to be built out in order to fit. There are many on this forum whoi know a lot more then I do but let me know if you have any questions that I can answer given my limited knowledge of the install.

We replaced ours with Garelick 75647:01 Quick Release 2.25" Stanchion Post - 25". We bought from Amazon, but something is messed up with the listing on Amazon as if you pull it up, it shows an image of a Apple charger. The pole is tapered on both ends. It might be just a very little bit short, but for us it was a huge improvement.

We installed Vessel View Link and replaced the SmartCraft 5000 display. We went with Lowrance MFDs as they were compatible with our SIMRAD 3G radar and integrated with Vessel View. We used a 9" display for the chartplotter and a 7" display where SmartCraft was. We were going to go with SIMRAD displays, but the 9" had a larger bezel and would not fit. If you are trying to save $ and just want SmartCraft again, there is a guy that fixes the old displays for a couple hundred bucks. Thanks that is a nice set up. Will check out the link, my display is dead, although it still dims the dash.

Appreciate the reply. As you said the 25" height might be a little too short but probably a better option for us as well. I just want to confirm the diameter on my existing post although I am assuming it would be the same as yours.

Thanks,
Rob

Having two modern MFDs is nice because you get full redundancy of all screens and you have dual GPS incase one fails. Unfortunately it is not cheap. To buy the two MFDs, vessel view link and some NMEA 2000 stuff and have everything installed by my marina including the SIMRAD radar I already had, ran me about $7K.

Got the 25” post and it’s so much better than 30” original. Thanks for the link.

Glad to help. For us it was much better for eating a meal. Makes it a little tighter getting up and down if you have a bunch of people on the boat (we had 13 adults last Memorial Day!), but for us it is usually just us and 1 to 2 couples.
