Hello! I just did a oil change on my bravo 2 outdrive. I have never owned a boat with a inboard + outdrive before so just unscrewed the button screw, top vent screw and then let it pour out until it didn't come anymore oil. I then pumped in the new oil until it started pouring out from the top screw and then screwed back both screws. However after googling a bit when I got home I noticed that there is this oil reservoir that I didn't think of so I didn't pump until oil started to appear there. When I was done I threw away the pump as it was this cheap one time use pump and didn't think more of it.

So my question is, can I pour the remaining oil directly in to the reservoir now or do I need to buy a new pump and keep pumping from the bottom? I guess it would create some air pockets but that would clear when I run it and I can keep refilling until it's at a steady level, right?

Nope, you did it correctly. Go ahead and fill the bottle. Not a bad idea to dump anything in it out and clean a bit with a rag before refilling.

Also, don’t be alarmed if the lube level in the bottle goes down the first couple hours of runtime and needs a refill. The drive will “burp” and push the air up through the reservoir.

Alright then:), first time I do a oil change on a outdrive so have been a little scared that I might do something wrong :D thanks for the quick answer!

Ideally, keep pumping till the fluid starts to show up in the reservoir bottle a bit and then top off, to avoid air bubbles. The way you did it, you will get more air bubbles - just keep some onboard to top off.

Since the reservoir didn't drain, the fluid is gunked up - possibly in the hose, too. Need to clean it out.

As Bill said, it's not a one-time use pump.
