Hello All,
I am a new member to CSR and not real sure of the protocol to use here, so please bear with me.

I had trouble two weeks ago when I tried to open the engine hatch on my 2007 290 Sundancer. I had to constantly press and let go, press, let go, until the hatch opened all the way. It took about 30 minutes.

According to my parts manual there is a magnetic switch in the transom door, that when open, send a signal to the control circuit that the hatch can be opened. (Is this really true?) I removed the catch that latches the transom door and there is no evidence of any wiring. I even tried a magnet but not sure if the polarity was correct. Now when I press the hatch up/down switches it does nothing at all.

How do I open the hatch manually?
and can the handle on the aft bench seat handle the weight of the hatch?
Thanks

haynes812.....I don't have the same boat as you, but with respect to the magnetic switch.....Yes it is true. But it is opposite the way you are thinking. There is a magnet in the door, opposite the hinge side.....that mates up with a magnet in the gunwhale. The wires that you refer to are behind that....

Hope that helps.

Thanks Jaybeaux, I replaced the latch on the door with a non magnetic version because it was old and dilapidated. I probably need to get the magnetic version and hopefully my switches will work once again.

How do I open the hatch manually?
Thanks
To open the hatch manually there will be a pin in each strut that will need to be removed. They are accessible through port holes. The port hole(s) will be under your seat and/or in the aft utility door probably.

Welcome to CSR!

Thanks JimG, I am going to try it right now.. I will let you know how it goes..

Finally got the hatch open. Yippee! But the pin was gone. I guess I could have try to winch it up after all but you can't see very well when the hatch is closed especially when you don't know what your looking for.. I am going to yank the actuator and plug it in on the bench to see if it works. Thanks for the help..
