Car people - don’t do this

Do that to a Porsche and you will really feel the pain. Lots of embedded electrical stuff and associated labor to replace. The glass is also expensive.
Between that and the fact I can’t find the menu item in the PCM that puts the arms in the correct position to change the blades is why the dealer does mine twice a year.

Well it’s been a little over three months and I’m finally replacing the glass today. I watched the crack grow all the way to the steering wheel over that time.

Sounds like a nice photography time lapse. Glad you are getting it replaced.

Safelite did mine a couple of weeks ago. One inch crack quickly spread to 8"+
The installer was good. Took his time and was methodical. Since I was at home I wasn't in a hurry so I'm glad he was thorough. Interesting he told me off two cases at the shop where they installed a new windshield, then put the wiper arms back on, then replaced the wiper blades as part of the job request, and then snapped the bare arm onto the brand new windshield. Yup, then proceeded to start over with a new windshield install. He says if new blades are part of the job he makes sure to replace the blades on the arm before he puts the arm back on.

For sure, I've had a couple. Once was backing my truck around the corner of the woodshed. I had the corner post lined up in my mirror, had plenty of room. Except somehow it wasn't the corner post I was lining up with. I was actually looking at one of the interior posts and whammo hit the corner post dead center....wrecked the tailgate and the glass topper door.

Then there's the time I was going to shoot a varmint from inside the truck. It was raining so I just rolled down the window for the shot. Had that critter lined right up in my sights, he would have been a goner but I was holding the pistol just a bit too low...or maybe the window was up a bit too high :p:rolleyes: Some poly and duct tape and I was good to go.
Back in the day I had my son and his buddies out to due some target shooting. Had them shooting a 22LR across the hood of a Jeep Cherokee . Every now and again the shot sounded really funny. I would go look the gun over. Well after 3o minutes or so of that I happen to look across the hood of the Jeep. Well there was a dozen or more of straight line grooves in the hood. The 22LR had a scope on it and the boys were skipping rounds off the hood. I could not believe what happen.

Happy with my install/installer as well. Although he did park his van up on the curb/lawn and left a big tire rut.

Question about this....my understanding is deductible waived if doing just the repair of a star, but you pay deductible if full replacement of cracked windshield??? Enlighten me...

Depends on the state and insurance company. In Florida, no deductible for windshield replacement or repair. Everyone would just replace the windshield. In Michigan, same company, deductible for either repair or replacement.
