I recently purchased new deck carpets for my 320, however, there are several floor snaps that do not line up to where I will install the carpet snaps, they are not off by much but some of the floor snaps are exposed. Also, I did not send a template before the purchase, the company used a 2005 320 template. I plan to remove the exposed floor snaps, line them up with the new carpet snaps and reinstall the floor snaps. Is there a certain epoxy that I should use to refill the small floor snap holes? Am I missing anything else with this type of repair?

You will probably be better off moving the snaps on the carpet. I am suprised they would have installed the snaps in the first place.

Otherwise you will need to do a Gelcoat repair to fix the holes properly. Probably should get a professional if you have not done it before.

Sorry, was not clear in my initial post. The snaps were not installed in the carpets, I will be doing this.

Do you mind if I ask why you don't want to install the snaps where the factory snap posts are installed? Sorry I am just curious.

Not a problem. In a few instances, the new carpets do not line up with the floor snaps. The carpet is cut short by roughly 1/8 of an inch in some areas. if I were to install the carpet snaps to the first two floor snaps as you enter the boat, the floor snaps at mid-area of the deck are exposed. Same with the mid-carpet area, the two floor snaps at the cabin door area would also be exposed.

Why not send it back?
It does not fit correctly.
Unless the original was not a factory carpet the one you just got should be the same.

You really don't want to fill a hole in the deck just because the mat is cut short.......do ya?

Ah, I see. I would agree with the last poster- if you can send them back that would probably be ideal.

If you do decide to fill those holes, to make it look right, you will need to have a gelcoat repair done on each hole. I am sure you could find a number of sealants to fill them up but I would not recommend that route.

1/8 of an inch is not bad at all. How cold is it? You should get the carpet warm and stretch it. If they would just fit when you put them down new, then the carpet fiber would stretch and wrinkle. You can snap just the ends or the furthest ones away and let it stretch then go to the next one.

When i ordered my replacement carpet, i never got around to installing the snaps. You don't need them in my 290 AJ. They lay flat and are not a tripping hazard.

I have to agree with papertrail I purchased new carpets and never intalled the snaps either... in two years no one has ever tripped, carpet stays put and is so easy to lift out when needed...

You could fill the holes with white Marine Tex. The holes are small so they may not stand out. Try it on one. Marine-Tax will really harden and it is very durable. If the snaps are in the non-skid you will never notice the Marine-Tex

I am a little troubled by the prospect of repairing a bunch of holes in the non-skid, the most difficult fiberglass surface finish on the planet to repair properly, just to make a carpet fit. Why not go back to your vendor and get them to recut the carpet so it fits correctly?
