Another question.......sorry for having so many....
One of the strainer baskets for the motors is looking like it's seen better days. Does anyone know the Perko part number for the replacement?
Judging by the Perko catalogue it appears to be an 0493 Strainer, but the dimensions of my strainer and basket don't match up to any of their numbers.
My basket is about 3 5/16" diameter which seems consistent with the 0493's, but the overall height from the very bottom to the highest point on the handle is about 12", not 12 1/4". Don't think I can get 12 1/4" under the cap.
Besides, the specs for the 12 1/4" basket indicate an overall 0493 strainer height of 16". Mine is only about 12 1/4" tall from the bottom to the top of the cap and the glass part of the cylinder is only about 8" tall.

I'm not where I can look it up for you, but Perko sizes their sea strainers and strainer parts by the diameter of the inlet hose. If yours has 2" intake hoses, then find the parts table and look down or across for the 2" strainer to find your basket.

Thanks Frank! I do have 2" intake hoses and I found one on Amazon that says it's for 2" so I ordered it. Worse case scenario, I can return it if it isn't the right height and diameter. Amazon is pretty good with returns.

What was the cost for that one? Last time I checked, they were VERY proud of these baskets.

Got that basket (about $125 with shipping) and it was about 4" too tall despite a picture on the Amazon site showing it to be the right height so it went back today.
I called Perko and they gave me the part number for another one (049300899d) so I ordered that one from another supplier on the internet and it cost about $90 with shipping. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's the right one.

What supplier ? $90 is a good price 4 other sites want $100 to $135....

Update: Perko was wrong. The part number they gave me isn't correct. Although the height and diameter of the basket portion itself are correct, the overall height is too short by about an inch because of a shorter hoop handle on the part number that they gave me so it's another return
I called Sea Ray Customer Service and they were great once again.
Turns out that Perko makes the strainers for Sea Ray to their specs.
The part number for the entire sea water strainer assembly is Perko 6467 and the part number for the basket alone is Perko 6468 BSKA.
It's a unique set up.
Next call is to Perko to see if they will sell me one.

Perko doesn't sell directly to retail customers.
After several calls to Perko, and visits to local marine stores, including 2 West Marine's, I was unable to get anywhere with this. Nobody would order anything other than the standard part numbers for me.
On my last call to Perko they gave me the telephone number for the special orders department at West Marine. I called them and after giving them the info and telling them that they had to call the OEM liaison at Perko to get someone who knew what I needed, I was able to place the order. It took them a while to figure out what the pricing should be (about $117.00 plus tax with free shipping to my house).
Ship date is 11/9.
What a royal pain in the butt this has been.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get the right one.
These things are unique in that they were especially made for Sea Ray, and most customer service people at a Perko don't even know what they are.
Looks like it is a 2" intake strainer with a housing that is slightly taller than a 1 1/2" housing would be so neither the Baskets for the 2" or 1 1/2" will fit in there. The first one is too tall, and the latter is too short.
I'm sure Sea Ray had a reason for this custom made set up, just not sure I can see what it was.

John,

If you have another issue like this, I will put you in touch with the parts guy at my marina who is a Sea Ray dealer. They take phone orders with a credit card and usually have the items drop shipped to you directly. Best of all, the parts guy is superb, he understands the SR parts system and you don't have to beg him to do his job. This is a full service marina and they do mark stuff up, but he is usually more competitive than the big box venders and a fraction of that the usual SR dealers charge.

Thanks Frank! That would be great! A couple of the spot welds on the old basket let loose and although it is still together, it's a time bomb so I decided to replace it rather than just getting a few more spot welds put on it.
I never realized what an undertaking this was going to turn out to be.
