Changing out commander 3000 and cables. Recommend cables to use?

Hi, All...I was looking a changing out my Throttle and cables with either the
1) Mercury 8M0011214 Quicksilver GEN II 4000 Boat Remote Shift Throttle Control OR
2) MERCURY 883710-A02 PANEL MOUNT 4000 GEN II SHIFT & THROTTLE CONTROL MARINE BOAT
I assume they are the same except for the color of the Handle?

I have a Round Speaker near Controller location,I assume the unit will come out through the mounting location or the 6" round speaker hole?
Also which OEM Type Cable is best?

We have a 270 sundancer with the commander 3000 unit. how did you end up gaining access and/or removing the control unit. there is very little access to the backside of the panel. thanks.
