Charger Question

I have a 1987 410 aft cabin. When I purchased the boat the Xantrex inverter/charger was not working. I would assume there is a separate battery charger on board is that correct? Does the inverter charger only charge the house batteries?

It's hard to tell on our older boats what might be wired to what. I'd suggest you follow the wires to confirm what it's currently charging. Short of that it'll be quite a crap shoot...

Easy enough to figure out with a Multi meter, ensure the charger is on and check battery voltages on each battery. Any battery reading less than 12.5 is certainly not actively being charged. I don't know why they all would not be all connected to the charger unless there are no isolating diodes installed.

My Xantrex has an internal fuse and they walked me through replacing it once... It is connected to 4 6volt golf cart batteries, separate from the 4 house/starter batteries.
