Charles 50 Amp Iso Boost:

Mine just stopped working, so no shore power. Probably a control board issue but not supported by Charles anymore. Got power coming in to it but nothing coming out. Since Charles stopped making these units in ‘16, what are people using as a replacement? Only one I’ve found so far is one by Aqua Marine. A “drop in replacement” for the Charles unit. $ 7,700 + frt and install. Is there any other options out there? Thanks, Pat

I have the Charles 12KVA Isolation Transformer on my 52DB.
I would do this one of two ways:
Get rid of the "Buck/Boost" feature and have it rewired as a simple Isolation Transformer. I'm sure the transformer part is the same as others. Probably have to get an electrician to do that.
Or, buy a new Isolation Transformer without the voltage correction features.
The marinas are getting much better on dock power quality including those in the Bahamas so I don't really see the need for the expensive voltage correction. The isolation feature is important however.

I get that. However we still have 208 voltage at my marina up here in Mass. So the boost feature is a must.

I see that in some Canadian marinas too and as you have boats plugged into it, it drops to 200v

Hmmm, so the marina derives dock power from their 3 phase source using a Y transformer and the phase to phase voltage is 120 degrees out of phase but you still get a good 120 volt in reference to neutral. So, you are right you need the boost feature where you are at.
