So guessing I should consider myself lucky. I have both 454's out of our 90 sundancer 350. While in the engine bay, I noticed the stbd raw water hose from the cock to pump to be internally rotten and plugged. See picture. I was warned to inspect these regularly. Oops... I neglected to do so. Good news is I didn't have to pay extract our boat from the bottom of a 200 foot lake. Testimonial to the fact. Check and change your raw water hoses frequently otherwise the result will be inevitable. Yikes!

Last insurance survey I was told to replace the same hose. I think it was $10 a foot. It was cracked on the outside.

Just got through replacing all the Raw water lines and all the Poo lines in our 2009 55. I was amazed at the poor condition. This is a big job but not doing it can sink your boat or fill it up with poo when a line breaks. There is a lot better hose on the market than what was used in building these boats.

LOL. I love the response change hoses on your schedule not the boats.
Too funny and so true.
Never ending finds on this 30 year old classic POS.
Good news is its hopefully I'm heading in the right direction.
Today's project was replacing the water heater wiliest engines are undergoing rebuilds.

Looks like were on top of our sinking issues. Great job
Anyone know if this hose needs to have a spring on the inside? Some say yes and some say hardwall. If yes what is the hose type to order?

MPI 100-1140 is what fit my boat.

This was on my '07, 650 hours, that I replaced this spring.

I read somewhere one time?.... That Sea Ray bought mass quantities of this hose and sanitation hose but it sat outside in extreme weather for sometime before it was installed in any boats. Both were said to have problems regardless of age.
Not sure what years it was used, which plants or the validity of the info.

Same as I pulled but that means nothing. My buddy say's spring in type for seawater. for me that means rust and metal into the impeller

Spring is built into the hose, it doesn't touch the water, just reinforces the hose.

View attachment 96596 Replace your belts and hoses when they are 10-12 years old. This way you do the jobs on your schedule instead of the boat's.

To add for scheduled maintenance - bedding doesn’t last forever also push out those below waterline thruhulls/rebed with 4200 and inspect those seacocks (ball valves don’t last forever either - if needs replace, make sure it meets the ABYC H-27 standard not your local Hardware store valve)

Wow, that looks amazingly bad. Interesting. Well this thread made me put "Replace Intake Hoses" on my spring to do list. Wonder if the best option for 2.5" intake hose is still the Trident and which one..... will have to research.

Do the ones above the water line too. Paint the new fittings with Imron or Awlgrip to match the hull. Paint will stop UV damage from occurring and keep them looking like new.
