Children on the Bow

Children are clueless to the dangers and the stupid father is even more stupid. I would have made a call to the marine police to have him cited
Where were the marine police and how long would it have taken to respond?
How would they every find the boat some time later?
The issue was not that he was breaking any law, but rather that the children were in immediate danger. Suppose the children were dead by that time the police got there?

I cringe any time I see folks with their feet over the bow while traveling.

I've come across a number of waves that toss my cabin I can just imagine someone hanging on to the bow rail while riding some white water.

Good for you for trying to help. I’ve given up on others, after seeing the selfishness of people the past few years.

Not so sure about that - https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2014/title-52/chapter-7/article-1/section-52-7-17

I use to think it was a USCG Federal law that no one was allowed to ride on the bow of the boat. But apparently it is up to the state.
Skybolt, that is good info, I haven't seen anyone doing this without a railing so maybe that is how they get away with it in front of the Sherriff or DNR? I don't know, I wouldn't recommend it.

(c) No person operating any vessel shall allow any person or persons to ride the bow or gunwale of any vessel nor shall any person or persons ride on the bow or gunwale of any vessel unless the vessel is equipped with a railing or some other retaining device on the bow or gunwale, so located that any person or persons might hold to such railing or other retaining device to avoid falling or being thrown overboard. For the purposes of this Code section, eyes or cleats shall not be considered retaining devices.

Children on the bow?…… children in the tube …… just think of the stuff that goes on out there we don’t see

Good Lord! That there is why we leave the flag up the entire time we are pulling tubes or skiers. The law here is only when someone is in the water, not on the tube or on skis/boards. But on our lake, if people don't see the orange flag, they cut as close as they like no matter how dangerous or inappropriate that is.

I'm betting a little bitty orange flag wouldn't have made any difference to that idiot.

I can't believe we revived this thread already. What are we going to do in February? Talk about Honda's again?

Jump for joy because our season will be very close at hand or just freak out because the supply of xanax is dwindling

A mid-winter thread about Honda generators on the swim platform or foredeck just livens up the site. The A-hole boater memories fade away in the winter.
Over Labor Day we spend 3 days on the Mississippi/St Croix rivers. At least 1 out of 3 boats had a generator on the swim platform.

We grew up riding the Bow of our IMP Inca 23 back in the 70’s. With legs dangling over the side and all. Just like we didn’t have seatbelts in our cars and we all lived. Of course back then there was probably 1/10th the traffic on the lake and roads as there is today. Now we know better……
