As I search for a 2001-2003 280 DA, I can't help but notice a lot of 280s on the east coast in the 60k-70k range. These are with twin 4.3 or twin 5.0 and generators too. But it seems like most other places for the same thing they are running more in the 75k-80k range. As I think about it, supply and demand comes to mind or the beating that salt water does to the boat. Are those a couple of the reasons or is it something else?

Local market conditions have everything to do with demand for a particular boat. I think you are going to find prices driven by the type boating and storage available in a particular market. Inland, a 280DA is about as big a boat as you can comfortable tow and store on a trailer...on the coast, it costs the same money to store a 300 or 320 in a slip or dry stacked. For this reason, many coastal boaters figure the 280 is an in between size as they move from smaller to larger.

If salt water is an ingredient in this, I think it is because people tire of maintaining twin out drives in a corrosive enviornment.
