The average funeral cost 8 to 12K. Think of all the thing you could do to a boat for that. Is the vaccine to be free. I got note from Rite Aid say they were going to provide a vaccine shot. They did not say if it was fee. In Canada the annual flu shot is free. I have not seen if the covid shots are to be free.

Well I heard that the Earth is flat on the internet so I'm pretty sure the information about the vaccine is accurate. Antivaxxers are always welcoming new members. My family doctor still says the vaccine is still your best bet. Take a look at the side effect of any OTC drug you take now and don't think twice.

Aren’t we all Americans with our own views? It used to be ok to have differing opinions and still get along. Now it’s all about insults and hatred towards one another. I have a friend in NJ who’s a republican(and that’s ok!), but now won’t listen to his favorite singer, Bruce Springsteen because he’s a liberal, which I think is absolutely ludicrous.
Now it’s all about I’m a liberal and all conservatives suck, or I’m a conservative and all liberals suck.
As far as you using the term lefties, then you must be a righty. Sounds like we’re in a Twix commercial!

I do not watch or go see a lot of “Hollywood actors “ or singers who LOUDLY voice their opinions. Neil Young was one of my favorites as was a certain Pink Floyd member. I saw both of them and they threw out their politics during their shows. I did not pay good money to listen to their crap.

When I’m looking for a movie on Hulu or Netflix and I see actors that have Loudly spouted their hate, I move on.

“won’t listen to his favorite singer, Bruce Springsteen ”
I do not have a problem with him being a liberal. I have a problem with him talking politics at his concerts. Calling the President a “moron” etc. Can you imagine what would happen to folks that said the things they do at the last President? Yes, he is free to say and do anything. That is what the United States is about. And I, and your friend have the right not to listen to Mr. Springsteen, Young, Di Niro .....

Damn, I miss Tom Petty.

I’ll agree with you on that. All and any politics do not belong in any entertainment venue. Whether it’s on stage, big screen or small screen.

Salk was treated as a hero. I was there.
The Salk vaccine was truly a history-changing event but not the unqualified success at its start the glow of history seems to want to make it. After successful trials, the vaccine was licensed for U.S. use in 1955 and mass vaccinations by injection began. But, about 40,000 children became infected and some died or were paralyzed. It was discovered that certain lots of the vaccine contained virus that had not been inactivated (see the "Cutter Incident") so live virus was being injected. The root cause was determined to be inadequate oversight by regulators more than a fault of the manufacturer and certainly not the fault of Salk. So, some of the mechanisms we are seeing in play now were put in place to avoid similar problems, hopefully we will not see anything similar because of these measures.
But, the damage was done and vaccination rates fell drastically as people shied away. The "sugar cube" oral vaccine was actually developed by Albert Sabin and licensed in the U.S. in 1961. The stigma from the first vaccines had faded plus the sugar cubes were much easier to deliver on a mass basis. The Sabin vaccine became the predominant treatment world-wide and blocked the chain of transmission, leading to the near-eradication we now enjoy.

or quite sometime now.
I’ve read on this forum plenty of times the term, leftie, libtard, and others. But that shaming is ok? There is plenty of posts with that theme. If those of you on the right are implying the folks on the left in this post are shaming, them, the folks on the right need to take a good look in the mirror.
In regards to this thread, Yes. Those are the groups that promote the fear that if you pursue your livelihood by owning a business to support your family and refuse to shut down, or maybe you want to wait and see about this vaccine, you're an anti-vaxxer and that you are going to kill people. Our opinion does not matter. They are anti-liberty IMO.

Liberty is not a specific thing. Its a continuum. There are building codes that restrict how you can build a house on your own property. There are hunting laws that say you cannot shoot certain animals at certain times of the year, and how many you can shoot. There are traffic and parking laws that limit your freedom to drive the way you want to drive. Your marina has laws about whether you can discharge your tank at your slip. There are rules about smoking while you fuel your car at a gas station. You have airline laws that say you can't take your handgun on a plane. There are zoning laws that say you cannot open a strip club beside a school. There are laws that restrict how late a bar can stay open at night. So the whole free world is "anti-liberty" because there are rules and regulations that restrict what you can and cannot do?
You don't have 100% liberty to do whatever you want. You have some fundamental liberties written in the constitution and then layers of laws and regulations to protect and ensure an orderly society that are within the constitution. You are actually part of a group that is fearmongering that the sky is falling and that the temporary shutdowns to slow COVID spread are some kind of liberal control conspiracy designed to undermine liberty.

Livelihoods are not building codes creekwood, and no one said 100% do “what I want”. So what you are discussing is completely off subject, but go ahead and tell this lady about your “building code” theory and why Hollywood gets a pass. This is clearly tyranny.

I liked creek woods comment, that’s all. Not trying to shame anyone at all.
But, there’s been plenty of shaming on both sides for quite sometime now.

Well leftie is an actual description of someone who leans with leftist political views. It's not derogatory in any way, no different than "right wing." Libtard is a term of endearment. :) Name calling is what it is -- but it's not shaming. And for the record, I haven't used any of those terms. Yet, I have been "shamed" several times. Not complaining -- I am a big boy and wear big boy pants.

US government has paid for the vaccine. Insurance will be picking up the admin. costs of putting it in your arm.

I think all political views of artists should be in the form of their art, i.e.; songs. Look at songs like Ohio, Southern Man and Sweet Home Alabama. Bruce has got a slew of his own with Born in the USA probably being the most well known (or unknown for those that don't listen to the words).

That's how liberty dies -- drip, drip, drip. One "small" law at a time. Where does it stop? That's the problem.

“Most people who get a COVID-19 vaccine will endure side effects, particularly after a second dose. ”

“...But experts still don’t know the long-term effects of the vaccines and won’t know until after the trials are completed and researchers monitor participants in the real world for years after.”

“Pregnant women are at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

What is the level of immunity after one shot? What happens if the second shot is delayed due to lack of availability?
Pfizer and Moderna have not yet released information from their Phase 3 trials about the level of immunity someone might get from the initial shot of their vaccines. Earlier phase trials suggested that two shots would be necessary to provide strong and enduring protection.

The vaccine by AstraZeneca/Oxford, meanwhile, has faced scrutiny over interim results from trials that showed 60% effectiveness when its vaccine was given in two equal doses and 90% among a much smaller group that accidentally received a half-dose the first time.”

Enjoy your vaccine folks!
