I have an old SX10-R6 10k btu cruisair in our 290. The pan is horrible, see below. I emailed Dometic to see if they have a replacement available. I couldn’t even get the stanchions off without the bolts breaking clean off.

I don’t want to have to do too much custom so if I have to I might just fiberglass the pan and paint it, but a SS replacement would be nice. Any other suggestions?

You can always wire brush it as clean as possible and spray it with a few coats of flexseal paint.

Get yourself some galvanized sheetmetal and bend yourself a new pan. Seal the corners and pop rivet them. Then just clean up the brackets and remount them. If you know how to solder sheetmetal you can sweat solder the corners. Sounds easy to me but I was a sheetmetal guy in the army on helos during VN war, still know how to work it.

Thanks all, the biggest issue is the stanchions that hold the water and coolant lines and the mounting plate for the compressor. I might give it a go, but I do like the FlexSeal option.

thanks again

I have been thinking about replacing this pan for a long time with fabricated galvanized sheetmetal. On the same idea, I made a drip pan for under our freezer in the galley as the humidity down here in Florida causes condensation like Niagara Falls. Used 26 Gauge on it and might do the same.
Good luck with yours!

The only trouble with the FlexSeal or fiberglassing solutions are the rusting will continue underneath.
On my '05 340, I got Cruisair to send me a new SS pan under warranty. With my 410 and current boat, I used phosphoric acid (EZ strip - may be called Prep-N-Etch - from HD or another product is Ospho) and converted the rust from iron oxide to iron phosphate. That stops the rusting process, then I painted them with white Rustoleum. Lasted 4 years on the 410 and was still good when I traded her, and so far 3 years on the 58.

Great! Another project for next winter.....lol!

I think that was a warranty issue, and they will send you a new pan.

When I checked in a couple of years ago they were no longer giving out the "warranty" pans. Additionally on my unit (12K) there were two compressors and of course they did not have the one for mine at the time. If you hear otherwise I would be interested in knowing.

I went the FlexSeal approach without removing the unit and it helped a bunch. I am sure if I removed the compressor the results would have been better however with a 15yo A/C I figured I was more likely to break something. So I figured at some point I will need to replace my A/C anyway and will probably upgrade to a 16K with a composite base and be done.

I'm on my 10th season with the composite base Dometic AC. One developed a small crack that was fixed with sealant. the other two still look like new. I throw in a couple of drain pan tablets at the start of every season.

I talked to the Dometic guys. They no longer offer the SS pan and it’s not available for purchase.

I’m going to give the flex seal option a go, can’t be any worse off than $25. The pan wasn’t leaking it’s just nasty and has a little smell, so that should make it look nice again.

Also gives me a chance to really clean the components. 20+ years of buildup on the coil and squirrel cage
