I have never cruised up the TN river from Guntersville to Chatanooga and am wondering if others would like to set up a cruise when boating weather comes around again. ...maybe late spring. I'd like to start the planning after the holidays. Anyone interested?

I might have some interest in doing a leg of the trip with the group, just for the hell of it. I could even help set up a departure or return meal @ my marina. No way we would go for the full ride. That is just way to long for us. My slip neighbor has done it several times. But like I tell him....

"I love my wife & I love my boat, but riding for 6 hours on a 25' boat. No thanks."

We splashed too late this year to do it, but I understand that a fall cruise through the "Grand Canyon of the TN River" down river of Chattanooga is beautiful...

It is a great trip! Are you thinking about over nightingale in Chat? Then running back down the next day or staying a day in Chat? Carter your problem will be the Chickamauge lock. I did it once and it took like 4 hours. After that I either put in above or below the lock depending on which way I was going. Have they finished the repairs/replacement on the lock yet? Yes the Canyon is a great ride and watch your depth finder. You are going over a fault line in river and in a couple places I had depths over 100 feet. Ps I think there is a couple older posts that I did with pictures in them.

Depending on my schedule, I'd like to do part of it too (at least Chattanooga down a ways and back - I'd be already traveling a day just to get to Chattanooga). I'll keep up with a post if you start a new one, or just keep following this one.

Sounds like we're going to get some good participation.

Chuck - it was your posts that gave me the idea. I can't believe you sold the boat because I was counting on you to guide us. :)

I would be there in a heart beat with or without boat.(grin) Yep in these interesting times you have to do what you have to do.

There are a few of us on the other side from Guntersville that were talking about doing this next year as well. There is a group that want to run the fast boats up but at the same time I would like to take the 350 up if it's not sold by then. Will definately follow to see a time frame for this.

We make a yearly trip from Knoxville to the dame on nickajack so it is opposite your planned trip. The chickamauga lock or any of the locks can take a lot of time if you end up having to wait for an eight barge tow to get through because they have right if way over recreational boats.

Thats a pretty boat ride. Beautiful country, especially the gorge. We've been through the area twice and it was just as fun the second time as it was the first. A couple of pics that don't do justice to the scenery...

We did this a few years ago leaving from Guntersville - 4 couples on a friend's big boat, rented rooms and stayed overnite at Lorette. Had a blast all around and another trip would be great fun! It will be "wait & see" for us as it depends on our work schedule at the time.

I am very much interested! I will PM you my info. I wanted to do this here in the fall but got blocked by other obligations.

John (Loneranger),

Let me know when you plan on making the next trip down. We may join you (if you don't mind)!

We would be in at least from Hales Bar to Chattnooga (we go quite often) if the group would have us that is!

Sure thing. If these guys come up from guntersville, maybe we could time it to all meet in chattanooga for a small sea ray meet.
