Is there a trick or anything I need to know before I take off the carbs to get them rebuilt on my 1987 340 sundancer? I have been burning old gas through them from the previous owner and am planning on pulling them off to get rebuilt after I am done. One of them boggs down at 2800 rpm and im certain its fuel/carb related from the old watery gas I've been trying to get rid of (I did treat it with a healthy does of stabill marine 360 though). So I'd rather just get them rebuilt and be done with it.

What size wrench do I need to get the fuel line off? My port carb is leaking fuel at the inlet but I didn't have a wrench big enough at the time to take it off.

Toss them and put new Edelbrock 1410s on.

You can do this if you'd like but I have had Qjets on my last 3 boats. I have rebuilt all of them myself with no issues at all. They are good carbs if understand how they work. I suggest installing Racor spin on filters in place of the spin on OEM filters. If you are mechanically inclined try to find a good carb guy to rebuild them. Ask around a little. As a last resort you can buy rebuilt Qjets on ebay but be choosey who you buy from.
