CSR Northeast Flotilla and Summer Rendezvous 2019!

26 days and counting....
Anyone else looking to join us? How about the feast in Shelter? Plenty of room left....
We would like to join the group for the very beginning and probably the end in Newport or Point Judith

Sorry for the lack of updates, its been a long spring/early summer for me work is too crazy!

Not many changes in the schedule from the draft posted originally (other than we will dock in Hyannis instead of the raft), the only things to finalize are which harbor is best in Shelter Island (I will leave that to the LIS crowd, we have only been once so have zero opinion) and the Buzzards Bay stops.

for Shelter nothing was pre-arranged so we either need to use a publicly available beach or just hop from boat to boat for a put luck.

My feeling is we plan the Buzzards Bay stops as weather dependent.

- Red Brook Harbor is more beach/water play so a good forecast would be best
- Onset can go either way - both a small town if its cloudy/rainy and beach/water play

both of the above wont be fun to travel back and forth to if the wind is SW over 15 knots with an opposing tide.

- New Bedford is best if rain is predicted as its only a town
- Marion or Mattapoisett could go either way, both towns are super small though

I will send some PM's/emails over the next day or two to confirm some of those that have responded and will update the list as I get them.

On a side note: My admiral plans to make some dinner reservations and will need some approximate head counts. We have a tentative reservation for Monday night in Nantucket, but we were thinking of making one for Tuesday as well. The other place we wanted to reserve was on Sunday night in Hyannis. I forget where she had planned but we will get some info out this weekend as well. I think all the other places we are going we can wait for 1-2 days in advance.

Updates to both participant list and itinerary have been posted on first post.

For those coming to Shelter Island we should plan Saturday Nights "Feast".

We should have some dinner reservation thoughts tonight for MV, Hyannis and Nantucket.

West Neck Harbor in Shelter Island May be a better selection than Coecles Harbor , we are here now. It’s has a great anchorage and beach, along with a very large bay with many Osprey nests.

West Neck is a much nicer place to do a raft up. It’s very protected, it has a sandy beach and the Shelter Island Boatyard is in West Neck. The Boat Yard has a restaurant “Salt”, a cool outdoor bar, a fuel dock and ice. The marina/restaurant are a quick ride from the anchorage area by dingy. If anyone wants to tube or water ski there is an area in West Neck Cove for that as well.

In years past we used the Island Boatyard outdoor covered porch for the feast. I can't remember if we were charged for it or not as we were split into half people staying at their marina & half drafted in the harbor. I think there was a nominal fee but it was a great spot!

Todd is correct we used the restaurant but we needed to have a minimum number of slips booked for that day.
I don’t think it has been decided yet as to the location but I think west neck makes sense.
I believe Scott was thinking if we don’t have a great spot to hold the feast we can do an “on board” pot luck kinda theme

I just stayed at Island Boat Yard this week. The porch we used for the dinner one year has just be redone and looks real nice. The building interior was also redone as well. Could be worth looking into using it. Otherwise, you could use the picnic tables near the pool as we did one other year.
(Still wish I could join you, but just not in the cards for this year)

So since we only have a few boats attending this year we where thinking of hosting the feast onboard our boat and save everyone the hassle of bringing tables, chairs, etc on land and back.
We also need to start listing who’s bringing what as we did in the past.
Either bring your favorite entree or dessert we’ll try to add them to your name on the first page...

Ok only a week away so I’m posting what we’re bringing in hopes others will follow. We’re bringing sausage and peppers

We will bring homemade meatballs and sauce (Joy is Italian) and tomatoes and Mozzarella. We will be in greenport at Mitchel’s Friday then over to West Neck Bay on Saturday.

We're looking forward to joining up for the Red Brook (Bassett Island) and Vineyard Haven section of the flotilla. Are there nights planned for dinner ashore? We have friends in both harbors we may see one night while there, but we don't want to miss a group dinner night at the Chartroom for example :)

Also, I know the "feast" is at the start, but are we doing any pot luck nights or planned mini feasts during the rafts?

We will be bringing steamed clams and broccoli salad.

It seems like there are only a few boats going to the first "Feast" port. It may make more sense to head towards our next destination rather than back tracking to West Neck. What do you guys think about moving the Feast to Montauk. We can raft in the lake, and it's closer to our next port.

Also it would be good to get everyone on a group text for the flotilla. It's a lot easier to communicate and keep everyone in the loop via text, rather than trying to check CSR. If everyone could PM me your cell number, I will put a group text together.
