Cummins QSB 5.9 x2
Hello, We purchased a 2007 40 Motor Yacht with Cummins QSB 5.9 425 HP engines this week.

During the sea Trial with a Diesel Tech on board doing the assessment of the engines and a Surveyor, above 2600 RPM we received a IMT high temp horn on the Smartcraft display.

The mechanic thought it was a sensor, so the sensors were swapped onto the other engine. The alarm and "high" temp crossed to the other engine. So tot me that tells me it's the sensor.

The seller ordered a new sensor and replaced it, although I have not see it myself. I'll look.

The seller is an Authorized Cummins Dealer and has documented complete service done this year including new after coolers (not just the core, complete units) and inner coolers, all new hoses, clamps, etc. Engine hours 1050.

On our voyage to bring the boat home (3 day trip, running the engines about 21 hours) the engines work fine, except if I got above 2600 rpm, the starboard eying alarm once agin showed the IMT height 150 degrees. The port side showed 105 deg.

Im ordering another sensor, just in case it was not changed and trying that.

Other than puller the after cooler off and inspecting the passages...any suggestions? Should I try this myself or hire a Cummins Authorized mechanic?

Thank You in advance.
