I have an ‘08 330 Sundancer that currently does not have the Kenyon electric grill. When we were boat shopping, we felt that the grill ate up too much counter space in the cockpit so we looked for one without the option. We’ve been using a Magma propane grill with a rod holder mount which works ok.

I recently saw that Kenyon makes the same electric grill with a lift off flatter lid, Instead of the curved lid that was provided in the factory option. I decided that I want to add this removable lid Kenyon to the boat but in order to still maintain the counter space, I want to recess the grill in the same manner that the electric stove is installed in the cabin. Obviously this will require that I remove the ½” corian countertop and install a thicker countertop that I can mill into but upon further review, there appears to be modification required to the structure under the countertop. For anyone that has the factory installed electric grill, can you send me pictures of the space above the fridge but below the grill? I believe I need to open this area to allow for air flow but I want to see how sea ray did it.

You can send photos to williamshare@gmail.com. Thanks in advance.

I never realized that my original post got cut off. So what I was getting at was that I wanted to install a Kenyon grill in the optional grill location in the cockpit BUT I wanted it sunken into the countertop so I could still use the counterpane when not grilling. Well, here's the finished product... What do you think?

That's awesome.... Can you come do that on mine?

Very nice! I wish my boat had a spot like that, I'd love to install one of those grills! Good job!

Looks great :)

Next time you take the barbie out - open up to the electronics inside (on the right side under the controls) and coat all the electric contact points to the element with a liberal amount of dielectric grease. I have had a million issues with mine - all related to corroded contacts inside.

But apart from that it is a great product :) and customer service from them is 2nd to none.

Looks great. I too wish I had use of this space when not grilling, but I'm afraid I'm not enough of a do it yourselfer to try this modification on my boat.

I have 2 Ice pits in my boat that would make a perfect spot for that and I've thought about doing it. Would u mind sharing specs on what u used? Grill wires ect? And Do u have pics from alongg the way of the install? I'm assuming its electric.

Ill write something up with photos. The surface is three layers of corian glued up and the grill is made by Kenyon. Sea ray puts these electric grills in their boats from the factory. All they require is a regular outlet. They cannot be hardwired as the plug itself has some type of calibration built into it. The grill has a stainless steel lid for when using it but it can be stowed when not in use.

Awesome. The only thing that stopped me from the install is knowing how to stop the grill from melting the sides of whatever I installed it into.

Well, that is one of my concerns but I hope to have calculated adequate distance for that. Only time will tell.

The Kenyon grill is well insulated - first an outer shell - then an inner shell - then the big drip tray. So 3 "insulation" layers from the grill elements to sides. My sides does not even get hot. The lid is also very well insulated.

I think they say 2" safety distance to anything below. Sides should not be a problem as the grill element is quite far from it. There are just about 2" from my fridge top plastic to the grill - and I do not have any burn marks on the plastic.

That looks amazing. Nicely done

I have the original Kenyon grill with the stainles curved cover. I would love to make mine "sunken" like that....
