Long, long overdue Defender Marine put up a new version of their website. I shop with them but haven’t tried it out yet. Wasn’t able to get past the feeling that the home page looked a lot like West Marine’s. Lol

And they are doing away with their Defenders first discount.Their email states all customers will get the savings. That translates to, all customers will pay more

Prob right. Defender First was always iffy for me anyway. I only got it when I had a big purchase, where the savings were more than the cost of DF. Some of DF’s prices were lower than Amazon (and some not) but shipping hurts. I like the store and I’ll still shop them. But I suspect they won’t have quite the advantage they had with DF.

Just for the record, I hate their new site. The old one was much better to find things in. I guess there still working on it or at least I hope so.

Man, I hated the old site. Looked like it was designed by a third grader. And it was HORRIBLE to try and use from a mobile device. Haven't used the new site much, except for browsing their current "sale". I quit browsing because their sale prices seemed to be 5% off or, in some cases 10% off. Not exactly my idea of a BIG sale!

Yeah, can't speak to the phone thing. I never would use their site with that. It's harder to find what your looking fot now, or at least it was last time I ordered from them, right around when they switched over.

Speaking of website overhauls, it's interesting how much the back-end tech can impact our shopping experiences without us even realizing it. Take Magento, for example. It's a platform that offers a lot in the way of customization and scalability for e-commerce sites. If Defender Marine ever considers another revamp, diving into Magento could offer them some pretty cool features and a highly tailored user experience. For anyone who's curious about what Magento can offer, you might want to check out some Magento Web Development services.Haven't tried shopping on Defender's new site yet, but maybe I'll give it a whirl soon.
