That’s pretty much what I’d expect from you.
I know. Because I expect a court to interpret the law, not make it. I would rather have the legislature make the laws.

I get it. You like pure democracy, where the mob rules and pigs all feed at the trough. I like what we have here in the good old USA as it has served us well.

Of course you’re happy. The system as it stands favors Republicans and enables minority rule for both POTUS and Senate these past 4 years. I just want an even playing field. That said and despite the deck being stacked against the dems, you now have a Democrat controlled executive and legislative ..at least for 2 years.

in the end to be quite honest with you, I don’t think it matters much which party is in charge so long as the only two viable choices are Dem or Republican. Both are grossly corrupt and until there’s a viable 3rd option to hold these politicians’ feet to the fire, they will continue to pillage this country and it will continue on its decline. To me Dems are just the lesser of two evils but I don’t expect much to change for most Americans over the next few years.

Lesser of the 2 evils? Maybe that's why Biden/Harris wanted to manipulate the system by adding more SC justices?

I think that Amazon is within their rights to provide hosting services to whoever they want and to set their own rules for what they allow to be communicated via their hosting platform. But the courts will decide that.

Now here's a point where I have a huge problem. Let's suppose for example, I have a business that doesn't want to cater to gays because I don't agree with their lifestyle. The courts have already ruled that this is not legal and I agree. So why is it, that Fakebook, Twatter, and Amazon can decide who and what they want to do business with? There used to be freedom of speech in this country. That is no longer true as that constitutional right has been ripped from us because little Johnny or Mary might get butthurt by our opinions. Whatever happened to sticks and stones? If you don't like it, don't listen and go on!
There will be many lawsuits over this issue in the coming years and I truly hope these social brainwashing entities get hit hard.

Actually, SCOTUS sided with the business owner.

Here’s the issue: Freedom of Speech as defined by the Constitution is a misunderstood concept by many people. The Constitutional protection is freedom of speech from interference by the government. There are exceptions, notably the classic example of shouting “fire” in a crowded theater will get you a quick trip to the lock up.

That means if you get up on stage in a theater and start a speech entitled “Bayliners Suck”, the police or FBI isn’t going to bother you because they can’t. But if the theater is owned by a Bayliner fan, he is completely within his rights to kick your ass to the curb (literally and figuratively) because of your anti-Bayliner stance. His house, his rules, and his rules don’t have to be fair.

The same applies to to the internet. Currently federal regulations hold that internet sites are not publishers of the content provided by their users unless the content is purchased by the site owner. When the site owner purchases content, or publishes their own content, then they are responsible for the content. BTW, Those regulations do not limit the site owner from establishing their own code of conduct and enforcing that.

Actually I believe our rights are protected until they infringe on another persons rights. Does that mean if I own a business that is hosted on AWS and they shut me down that they are now infringing on my rights?

First off, which particular “right”, or “rights” are you referring to?

Your second illustration describes a business relationship. These are governed by some form of contract that defines the rights and obligations of all parties. So the answer to your question is really one, or some combination of the following; yes, no, maybe. The answer depends entirely on the contract that exists. And yes, contracts can limit your free speech.

Which is why I posed it as a question. It has been a long time since I studied the constitution and was going from memory. But either way, I don't like how big tech is ruling the world. Soon we will all be told what we can and can't think or believe. It's a slippery slope and I don't like where it is headed.

Interesting to see that there now seems to be a sudden groundswell of support for regulating tech from the same folk who spent years promoting and celebrating deregulation.

It is being regulated ,just not honestly or by a non partisan sanctioning official government committee like the FCC that can decide what is too much skin to show on TV. Big tech can do whatever it wants or what ever some one pays them to do or wills them to do,kind of like offering 200 billion dollars to the ukrain that you dont actually have controll over untill you are the president and congress and the senet vote to give that money to you. The democrats found a way to control big tech for the election with promises of non regulation I cant wait to see how that works out for either of them now that every one knows how unscrupulus both of those parties are.

I deleted all Facebook and do not buy anymore on Amazon.

There must be a lot of drunk FB account deleting, They really go out of the way to make it easy to change your mind. They clearly know how addicted their users are to the platform. I deleted and had to go thru several confirmation steps and then they make sure you have the opportunity to down load all of your past content in a file they automatically create for you. Then as you proceed to delete they give you 30 days grace period to reactivate your account just as you left it. I was stoen cold sober when I deleted and won't be going back.
Carpe Diem
