Has anyone else had the problem of the table not fitting into the opening in the v berth to convert it into a bed? I have a 2006 240DA and the table does not fit, the dealer is going to look into it in the Spring and suggested they might re-cut the sheeting on each side to allow it to lay flush. What do you think of that idea?

well, I don't know.....But for an '06, I prolly would raise cane and not let them modify it to fit. :smt013 :smt013

just one person's thought though....may be the best option?

table

I agree with Half Off, get a new one and don't settle for them "cutting" the old one!

I'd keep the table and tell them you want a new boat!

Just to clarify, the dealer wants to trim the sheeting that is underneath the side cushions allowing the table to lay flush. I am curios if this is an isolated occurrence, it is hard to imagine all '06 240's would be like this thus indicating a design flaw.

No Go on a 2006!

I would not allow them to cut the table to "make it fit." This is completely unacceptable! Stand your ground (or hold your water) and don't let them jack you around with this obvious design flaw. Just my 2 cents.

Half off my table is very tight but it will fit, I just sit down on it and wam yow it pops in. Hey maybe that's why you guys got so much more off sticker than I did. :smt043 Sorry I had to.

You might ask them to first try another table out of a different 240DA. If that table is identical, then you obviously need to let them fix the area where the table rests. I would assume that area is carpeted so my concern would be that it is done right and is not noticable when they are finished and the carpeting gets replaced if need be too.

Just make sure you understand exactly what they will do ahead of time and ask as many questions as you can to satisfy yourself you will like the job when it is done.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Islandhopper, the difference in price has got to be that 10k trailer don't you think??

I just got back from the dealer and the problem with the table seems to be that it contacts the galley cabinet on the port side before it can come back far enought to properly set down onto the opening. My boat is due in this week and I'll be sure to check it out. I don't see any other solution other than to modify the table slightly. This solution is obviously unaccceptable.

jg, let me know how you come out. I won't get to my boat for another month. Definitely looks like a design problem. Pretty big oops if you ask me.

My 2007 has the same issue. I haven't taken delivery yet but I'm thinking maybe it's designed that way to sort of snap in place under pressure to hold the table in place firmly. Just a thought and I will check with the dealer to see if I'm correct or not.

Mine is so far off there is no way it will snap in.

Short of a new smaller table, I might let them pull the carpet back on the plywood on top of the storage compartments and trim enough out to allow the table to fit.

Again, I am amazed at this obvious engineering mistake. (Maybe because I work in engineering?)

I'm a surprised that it's not isolated to one boat. The one I was on yesterday would require some major modifications to fit properly, which does not bode well. Seeing as how the seating and galley cabinets are immovable, the only solution is to alter the size/shape of the table itself. My boat just arrived from the factory yesterday so I'll hopefully get a look at it next weekend.

If I were you folks, I would insist on a new table that fits even if it means Sea Ray has to make custom ones that are the right dimensions.

As far as emailing Sea Ray, good luck with getting a reply. They still have not answered my last two emails from months ago. You are better off calling the 800 number in my opinion.

:smt038 OK, Sea Ray called me on the phone. This is a defect they are aware of and they have instructions available for the dealer to make a correction. She said she would call my dealer directly, however I called to give him a heads up.
Apparently the repair takes 1/2 hour and simply calls for the "cabinet" to be shifted slightly. (The area the table lays on they refer to as a cabinet)

I'm happy with Sea Ray's personal response.

Did they say if it has been corrected on the newer boats? I think the cabinet they're refering to is the galley cabinet, but I hope it's not.

She didn't say. Mine is being rigged for delivery so it's fairly new. I don't know exactly when it was built.
When she said cabinet I told her that what I was refering to was the space under the cushions where the table is stored and she said that it was a cabinet and needed a adjustment. I asked her if they had to cut on the boat or anything else that might go wrong and she said it was a easy 30 min. repair.
We'll see I guess.
