Distracted Driving.

Traditionally Europeans treated driving as a serious endeavor given high respect. I once read an anecdote in a car mag describing the appalled reaction of Daimler engineers, upon their purchase of Chrysler, to the number of cup holders the American buyer wants.

They did not eat or drink coffee while driving, it was too important for that.

I remember a great cartoon that summed up American drivers so well. In a family van woman steering with knee, leaning between the seat to the back seat to feed baby, while holding a coffee cup in the other hand. The caption read, "thanks honey, I just love the hands free phone"

And there you have it...

Saw a millennial female almost hit a car because she was in a lane that did not go where she wanted. The car she was trying to hit honked their horn, she in returned that with a two handed flip off.

No one can be told they did something wrong today. They just can't handle it. Most of us would wave and apologize, but not today...

I'll add to that. There is very little personal responsibility today. If a person hit a parked car today, they will try to get away before they are discovered. Leaving a note is a thing of the past like Saturday Morning Cartoons.
