DO NOT INSURE YOUR BOAT WITH PROGRESSIVE

Based on this I will be canceling my Progressive policy. Thanks for the tip

Progressive offers propulsion plus coverage. $60 a year and all in water mechanicals are covered even if wear and tear. Eliminates the argument.
I believe that there is an age limit on Propulsion Plus, I think 10 years. But that is good coverage if you are eligible.

Here's what mine looked like last summer. I was fully covered by insurance, less my deductible, but only after the marina answered the question about age of the equipment in a way that suggested they'd done the dance with insurance many times before.

Actually paid my premium yesterday. $598
$145k value
NBOA

It appears the initial failure was (as we see all too often) an improperly installed coupling and the key being an interference to a proper fit was the cause of an overstressed condition. The crack was initiated by the key interference and the strike finished it off. The damage shown in the photo of the propeller is not indicative of something that would also fail a shaft. Just my simpleton take from the photos.

Isn’t NBOA underwritten by Progressive?
Actually they shop it, and get you the best deal. My dingy and sea doo was underwritten by progressive.
My 390MY was not and I can't remember who, not at home to look it up.

Maybe National Casualty Company

Doesn't BoatUS help in situations like this when insurance tries to deny claims? They sort of 'mediate in your behalf'? Can you reach out to them?

What attorney would publicly announce that they are a “lawyer” and they will “sue out of principal “ while publicly trashing a huge insurance company with deep pockets?

I believe his info shows he is in Calfornia, maybe its because they do everything different including common sense out there.

BoatUS is associated with Geico. They would be a competitor of progressive, so no help there.

When I had my company I had "Get drunk in bar and say too much insurance" liability insurance that covered us for saying the wrong thing. I had it because we had some large competing customers. We never were sued or threatened to be sued. But we never discussed what others were like or were doing.

I'll chime because, well because is there a thread where i don't. I have had Progressive for many years on my cars and they are wonderful (for cars). In Sept backing out of space at grocery car into the path of another coming down the aisle, couldn't see because of truck next to me and BAM too late. Fixed it to perfection and on the next renewal my rates went down for the following year (yea, I was shocked at that). For boat I went with BOATUS because Prog wanted a separate policy for my dingy while boatus covers it in main boat policy. BoatUs didnt require a survey either, but its only a $10k boat so I dont think they are sweating it. Now for 30 years i have never had to place a boat claim so i dont know what would happen in the event, but i just wanted to speak up for Progressive because they have been the best insurance company I have ever had. Between raising 2 kids, yeah I have had a lot of claims with them and never once was i dis-satisfied.

You had a shaft collar on there. I added them this time around.
