I am installing LEDs ynder the swim platform.

So far the lights are mounted and the wires are run to the transformer/ power supply.

The switch I bought lights up when activated...a few extra wires I guess.

The horrible drawing shows what I need to figure out:

Connect Red/Black Power Supply to switch. 2 wires into 5 wires.

Connect Switch to Battery.

It seems that the power supply ground goes straight to the battery, and the red goes to the switch?...cant be right.

Anyone with a few extra brain cells? Thx!

The ground for the transformer is hardwired to the battery.

The switch is used to interrupt the battery power on its way to the transformer.

The switch has its own light, so it needs its own power and ground.

If it’s backlit for nighttime, it may need power from the instrument panel lights too.

Your instructions show that the switch only uses 4 of the 5 wires.

If my switch is 5amp rated, do I need a resistor from the battery to the switch? The battery will be the power source to the switch which is connected to the led transformer. The directions I have just say to install. fuse.

No resistor. That’ll lower your voltage. The transformer needs a 12v input.

Just put the appropriately sized fuse close to the battery to protect the entire circuit.

Is that LED power supply a 12V DC-In unit and whats the rated amp draw of the LED's power supply?

Whats the rated amp capacity of the switch?

Need to answer these before a proper wiring schematic can be developed.

Why is there a transformer?

Gonna need more information... how about links to what you bought and or pictures.

Got it solved. Didn’t make sense, but it was right. Worked first time. No pics yet since I can’t leave them on long out of the water.

Thanks Espos4!

Original post has pics and instal info. 5amp switch also.

Probably a DC to DC converter. A transformer with DC going in to it is a paperweight.
