Twin 300HP 6.2L MPI w/ Axius, Bravo III
Hello all,

Hoping to become a Sea Ray owner in the next few days. I am looking at 2 different SLX 310s - the builds are virtually identical except for engines. Both have upgraded power packages (standard for this boat are 4.2 mercruisers @ 250HP) - one has twin 6.2L 300HP and the other has the 350HP version.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations beyond "nobody ever said they wanted less power"?

Prices are probably similar once I factor that one boat (with larger engines) I need to transport where the other one is available to me locally.

Thanks in advance for any insight you are able to share....

I don't think you'll get anyone to tell you that they wish they had LESS power. If they told you that I'd bet they were lying. That said, those power options should both be more than sufficient for that boat, but with a crowd onboard and full coolers/provisions, that extra 100HP would very much come in handy. Necessary? Nope. Desireable? You bet.

Recent CSR board discussion would suggest buying smaller motors only makes sense when shopping for Ford trucks :)

For the way I boat I'm really not in much of a hurry at any given time. If I were to get better fuel economy and/or better engine access (not relevant to you with OB's?) I'd go with smaller engines no problem.
