Hello All,,,Was going to change engine oil yesterday on this boat I bought ,,I bought one of those Sure-Flo bucket w/pump,,problem is the tube won't go down dip-stick tube.

I was thinking of trying to add a hose to the oil pan drain plug area and then adapting to the line from the bucket pump.

Is there a good way to drain oil that I am un-aware of???

Thanks

Many mercruiser engines have drain tubes that you can access by removing the drain plug and then the tube sticks out of the drain. Not sure how to get the oil flowing, assume there is a valve somewhere.

Thanks,,I ran out of time yesterday to check for some kind of tube under the motor..That is what I am hoping is on this thing..

simply hook the hose TO the dipstick and suck the oil out, aalmost all marine dipsficks go all the way to the bottom of the pan

The "quick drain" oil hose kit (replaces the oil drain plug in the pan) didn't start being used by Merc untl about the 2001-ish model year. Unless someone has had the engine out and done that mod, you'd still have the normal drain plug. HOWEVER, the EASIEST way is to simply attach your oil sucker's hose directly to the dipstick tube (usually a 3/8" ID hose) with a small hose clamp. The dipstick tube goes close enough to the bottom of the oil pan as it makes no difference and using a little plastic tube stuck down in there will only remove, maybe, a few extra ounces. Besides, the dipstick tube is larger, so the oil comes out faster.
